Hi I'm Lynne Stites

I am a life long member of the Church, mother of four wonderful children, grandmother of 18. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and love to spend time with them. I enjoy making things with my grandchildren. I worked in a public school library for over twenty years and like to talk to people, especially children, about favorite books and stories. I love to sew and create things. I like to make clothing, quilts, bags and toys. My daughter and I enjoy sewing dolls and clothes for them. I like to knit and crochet. I am a closet technology geek and love learning about new devices and software.

Why I am a Mormon

The ancestors on all sides of my family all joined the church before 1900 and my parents and grandparents have all been faithful members of the church. That being said, I still had to work to receive my own personal testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. While in college away from home, I spent considerable time looking at my life to determine if I was heading in the direction I wanted. After prayer and much contemplation, I did receive a personal witness that God was my father and that Jesus Christ was my Savior. As a wife and mother, I have received personal witnesses in times of need or times of trial that reminded me that my Father in Heaven was aware of me and my situation. I have truly felt his love for me. The gospel answers questions for me and fills me with a sense of peace even in difficult times. When two of our grandchildren died at very young ages, my relationship with God and Jesus Christ reassured me that they were safe and gave me the comfort I needed. I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is his son, our brother, and he came to this world to give us the guidelines we need to return to our heavenly home. He came here, a perfect being, to atone for my sins and give me the opportunity to return home in spite of all my shortcomings. I am so grateful that Christ loved me enough to be willing to do that for me. I know that the Book of Mormon was written by prophets and translated by a prophet. I've read it many times and feel the spirit of the Lord as I read it. I am so grateful for temples and the chance that we have to bind our families together eternally. I can't imagine living for eternity without my wonderful husband and children and their children around me. I feel as though I've been given a priceless gift.

How I live my faith

Church attendance has played an important role in my life and the gospel shapes my vision of the world. I have served all ages of people at church including teaching young children, youth and adults. I've also served in presidencies of church organizations for children, young women and adult women. An especially fun calling was arranging activities each month for families to spend time with each other playing games and sharing meals. Currently I teach young 8-11 year old girls during the week twice a month. We talk about such things as building faith in Jesus Christ, learning to cook nutritious meals, the importance of kindness in all our actions and playing games together. On Sundays I spend time with our sweet little toddlers from 18 months to 3 years while their parents attend Sunday meetings.
