Hi I'm Janet Broadbent

I grew up in a small town in Utah. I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am a sixth generation Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of four wonderful children and 15 precious grandchildren. I play the piano and organ, love music and enjoy reading and traveling. I graduated from college with a degree in elementary education. When my youngest child entered school, I returned to the university to renew my teaching certificate and obtain an early childhood endorsement. I taught Kindergarten for 24 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God answers prayers. When I was a young girl in my preteen years, I received an answer to a prayer that changed my life. I knew without a doubt that Heavenly Father knew me and loved me and like a concerned parent who wanted to help a pleading child, He helped me find my way out of a frightening situation. Where previously, I had been wavering in my faith, I declared my discipleship and consciously chose the path of the gospel. I know that this is Christ's church, the same church that He organized when He was upon the earth. I know in each dispensation of the world, God has sent his prophets to reveal truth to us. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet of this dispensation through whom Christ's church has been restored. I know that we have a living prophet upon the earth today. I know that Christ was born in Bethlehem, that He was crucified and resurrected after three days and that He lives and loves us and wants us back with Him again. I know He has provided the great plan of salvation for us. At the heart of the plan is the atonement of Jesus Christ which makes it possible for us to be perfected and live eternally with our families. I am a Mormon because I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that these doctrines are true. It brings hope and joy to my life.

How I live my faith

I have intermittently played the piano and organ in church since I was a senior in high school. I love the music of the church and credit it for building my testimony especially during my young adult years. I have led and taught the youth on both a ward and stake level for most of my adult life planning activities, programs and camps. I have led and served the women in my ward by teaching lessons, organizing visiting teaching, coordinating monthly activities and overseeing service projects in the community. I visited, provided meals and organized luncheons for the dear widows in our ward. Their love and friendship continues to be one of the greatest joys of my life. Currently my husband and I are preparing to serve a mission for the church in the Philippines.
