Hi I'm Shannon De Forest

I grow up in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. I have been working really hard in my life. I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I am a second degree black belt in karate. I have been in karate since 1998. Most people think not to mess with me since I do have a black belt and a lot of people are afraid of me. I eat kids classes in karate every Monday night, and I teach family classes on Saturday mornings, unless it's a karate tournament day, they I cancel class and have my students attend and participate in the tournament. I have won a lot of medals from competing in tournaments, and I'm always able to go to the World's tournament. I graduated from College in St. Catharines, Ontario in 2012 and 2013, I also graduated from College in Barrie, Ontario in 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I came about the sisters in Barrie, Ontario. I was coming out of the bank in downtown Barrie, and the sisters stopped me and said, "hey do you want to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?" and I'm like sure. So I met with the sisters and we started our first lesson, with how much I knew about God and Jesus Christ. So I told what I learned when I was growing up from going to my old church in Niagara Falls, Ontario. I stopped going to church when I was about 12 years old, then I went to a Catholic High School, so we talked more about God. When I got to grade 11, in one of my classes we had to take was Religion (World). We talked about almost all the different types of religions that are out there in the world. After I finished high school in 2009, I stopped going to church and talking about Jesus Christ and God on a regular basics. As I was going to church every week with the sisters, I realized that I should not have cut God or Jesus Christ out of my life. So as I was learning more and more, I got baptized in March of 2014 and got confirmed the following Sunday. I still went to church every Sunday, until I moved to Jasper, Alberta, then it was a little harder, since I worked every Sunday, but in October 2014, I moved back to Barrie, so I can finish my education, I started going back to church, until April of 2015, when I moved back home to St. Catharines, and then moved to Lake Louise, Alberta and then moved to Canmore, Alberta.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures every day. I have read the Book Of Mormon 3 times now, I'm almost done reading it again, I have been reading the holy bible as well. I try to read 5 chapters a day, from the holy bible and from the book of Mormon. I try to get Sunday's off, but there is no way that I can get them off, since I work in the hotel industry and a lot of the time people are checking out on Sunday's. If I do get Sunday's off I do go to church every Sunday, because I am keeping the sercrenment holy, but if I don't get the Sunday off, I prey every day, and read my scriptures, so I can keep the spirit with me.
