Hi I'm Kalina

I am an Ovarian Cancer survivor. I am a marathoner and an ultra runner. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 25 years old. I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer at age 22. I have overcome an eating disorder. But what I really am is a runner. I LOVE running. I ran in college and now I run marathons and ultramarathons. I love being in the mountains. I have a mini australian shepherd that follows me everywhere and is my trail running buddy! I love running, mountains and eating chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me more hope, happiness, and joy than I could ever imagine. I went through a year and a half of chemotherapy for cancer, a divorce from a husband who was unfaithful, and struggled with anorexia for years. Without the help of the Gospel and the joy it brings me, I couldn't have made it though my trials. I am a Mormon because I feel His Spirit whenever I am righteously living His gospel. I know He loves me and all His children. I know that He wants me to be happy even more than I want myself to be happy-and that brings me intense hope and joy. I know that when I feel lost, lonely and hopeless that He knows how to comfort me and truly cares about me and my problems. I have never felt so at peace than when I worship Him in His temples or through enjoyment of the beautiful Earth He created for us to enjoy. I can't imagine my life without the Book of Mormon, the promises I have made with Heavenly Father and the Mormon community I have in my own church boundaries. I have made great sacrifices to live my faith righteously and I have been blessed tenfold because of them.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by the way I treat and view others. I see everyone has a beloved child of our Heavenly Parents. I love to read my scriptures, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I visit our temple weekly to participate in sacred ordinances and feel closer to my Savior Jesus Christ.
