Hi I'm Alicia

I grew up in New Hampshire. I went to school for Massage Therapy, and am currently enrolled in school for Naturopathy. I'm LDS.

About Me

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was almost 21. I hadn't heard of it before then. My constant inner question to God of "Why am I here?" was answered the first time I met the missionaries, along with the answers to "Where did I come from" and "Where am I going?" I am a step-mom with a 14 1/2 year-old step-daughter who lives with us. I met her and my husband when she was four, and my husband and I were married a month after her fifth birthday. I enjoy singing (I'm a first soprano), playing the piano by reading, and especially by ear, water tubing, jet skiing, swimming, wake boarding, water skiing, snow skiing, snow boarding, Zumba, Jazzercise, Cardio Kickboxing, amusement parks, learning new things, family time, bowling (although I'm terrible at it!), reading, Facebook, Pinterest, and especially learning more about Jesus and striving to live as He lived ~ to follow His example. We have two dogs and a cat. I love animals and would love to work with them in some way in the future. I'm a Massage Therapist, and I'm currently enrolled in BYU-Idaho online (Pathway), which is my next step to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor.

Why I am a Mormon

In April of 1999, I decided to visit my parents. Unknown to me, my sister had also decided to visit them at the same time! They weren't home, so we decided to wait. I wasn't much of a t.v. person, but my sister was, and she sat down on the couch and turned it on. The very first thing that came on the screen was a commercial for a "Lamb of God" video. I called the number to get a copy of this free video, and was asked if I would mind if two Elders dropped it off. If that wasn't okay, it could be mailed, I was told. I thought that it was strange for two elderly men to drop off a video, but I told her that would be fine. I set up an appointment for the following Tuesday evening. When the missionaries (also known as Elders or Sisters) came to my door, I was surprised to learn that they were my age! I had been so very depressed for so long, and my whole house seemed dark. But as soon as the missionaries came in the front door, the whole room seemed to light up as if it were a sunny day in July! The very first question one of the two asked me when we sat down was, "Do you believe that God talks to people today?" My answer was, "Of course! He doesn't love us any less than He loves the people from the Bible." I hadn't been brought up with that teaching; I just knew. I was right ... we have a living prophet on the Earth today! The feeling of surety I get when I hear President Thomas S. Monson speak is undeniable. I was ready to be baptized right away, but the missionaries told me they wanted me to pray about it first. I had said simple memorized prayers throughout my life, but I had never sincerely prayed with a desire to know of something before. That night, as I knelt down in prayer to ask our Heavenly Father if this Church is the true church, I felt such a warmth; I felt as though I was being held in His arms, full of love. I had NEVER felt that peace or been so sure of anything before then! I can't deny that I KNOW this is the true Church!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures, listening to talks from our bi-annual conferences, praying often, and being an example of Christ's love and living the commandments. I have had many callings in our Church: Teacher for the nursery (1 1/2-year-olds and 2-year-olds), Teacher for the Sunbeams (3-year-olds and 4-year-olds), Teacher for the CTR's (5-year-olds through 7-year-olds), Teacher for the Valiants (8-year-olds through 11-year-olds), Activity Day Leader (8-year-old through 11-year-old girls), Librarian, Chorister, Primary Pianist (for the 3-year-olds through the 11-year-olds), Primary Secretary, Branch Missionary
