Hi I'm Roger

I was born and raised in Utah, a 5th generation Mormon. Some of my ancestors were Handcart pioneers. I love serving the needy.

About Me

I'm married to my high school sweetheart, an amazing woman. We have six children, thirty two grandchildren and four great grandchildren who keep me very busy and fill my heart with gratitude and joy. I'm now a retired pharmacist, but spending time with family and serving others, provide me with ample activity and real fulfillment. I also love the outdoors, cycling, hiking, walking and photographing all that nature offers. But, service to others is what I enjoy the most. Making a small difference in someone's life, makes a enormous difference in mine.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a 5th generation member of the church. Several of my ancestors from multiple genealogical lines were converts to the church in the 1830's and 1840's. All of them moved west with the early pioneers and some did so in handcart companies. My heritage is sacred to me, but I did not fully understand the teachings of the church, nor did I gain a full testimony of it until I served a mission at age 19. I believed what I was taught, but I came to know of it's surety while teaching the basics to others. As I witnessed miracles and mighty changes in the hearts of many people, I recognized the power and the purpose of the the Gospel. For two decades I leaned on the faith of family, and then within two months my life was filled with faith of my own. From that time forward, I have known that Jesus is the Christ, that God lives, and that the Gospel, the Church and the Priesthood power of God have been restored to the earth. The Kingdom of God is here. My life is filled with personal miracles, personal witnesses, and personal knowledge that this is true. My knowledge is not based inn historic details nor doctrinal points of debate and the language of man. It is based in in the language of God: Faith, prayer, feelings of the heart, and the gifts and powers of the Holy Ghost. He too is a God and testifies of truth - therefore I know, by his power these things are true.

How I live my faith

My experiences within the organization of the church have been many and varied. Scouting, teaching, missionary calls, leadership positions and temple service have filled the years of my life. Each assignment has given me opportunities to teach and serve others. I've learned the most about myself when engaged in the lives of other people. Visiting the homes of others and teaching parents and children simple gospel principles and providing them with some level of assistance when the Spirit directs, is a most rewarding feeling. While serving as Inner City Missionaries, my wife and I came to understand how very precious each and every soul is to our Father in Heaven, and how infinite the Savior's love and mercy really is.
