Hi I'm Jake Johnson

I am from Indiana. I run Cross Country and Track and I am serving a two year mission in Mesa, Arizona currently. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy sports a lot. Sports have influenced my life in many great ways. My favorite sports are Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Ping Pong. I ran Cross Country and Track in High School and that taught me a lot about work ethic and how to achieve goals. I was blessed to be able to earn a running scholarship to Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky and plan to continue running there when I return home from my service as a missionary in Mesa, Arizona. I am the youngest in my home and my siblings include 1 full blooded sister, and 2 half sisters. I am called to serve as a full time missionary in Mesa, Arizona and have been very blessed through serving God on a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so I have known about this religion ever since I can remember. However, there came a point in my life where I needed to gain my own testimony for myself. I read The Book of Mormon with a sincere heart and asked God if it was true. It took time to receive an answer, but I got my answer and peace filled my soul and I felt a very warm and undeniable feeling in my heart and I can testify that The Book of Mormon is the word of God as well as The Bible. From that moment forward, I knew without a doubt that this was the Lord's true church and that I have been blessed to have been raised in it. The Lord has a plan for all of His children and he wants what is best for them. I know that this gospel brings only happiness to those who live it worthily and that He loves everyone so much more than we can comprehend. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and he died for every single person past, present, and future so that we would have the opportunity to return to our Father in Heaven. My testimony is why I am who I am and I know that I may lose loved ones in my life, I may go through trials, I may lose money or lose games, but one thing that nobody can ever take from me is my testimony and my faith. I love my Heavenly Father very much and though I am imperfect, I feel his love and I know that he wants what is best for me in life and I strive everyday to be a better man. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and I know that we have living prophets and apostles on the Earth today. Because of my testimony, I am able to feel better in life and feel more at peace. I am grateful to know these things. My testimony is everything to me and I am so blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It's all true and if you ask God, He will tell you by the power of the Holy Ghost the truthfulness of the church. You just have to ask Him.

How I live my faith

I am an Eagle Scout and my project was making flag shadow boxes for retired veterans. I was able to donate the completed boxes to some local VFW's. Scouting blessed me as I was growing up because it taught me responsibility and the importance of serving others. As a missionary I have also come to feel my love towards God and others increase because we serve 24/7 for two years. The mission continues to show me just how important service is and how many blessings come when we show love to others. I feel like being mindful of others and always being ready to help out with anything that anyone needs is essential if we want to progress in life and become who God knows we can become. From scouting, what my parents taught me, and from the mission I have a goal to always be willing to make sacrifices for others. And by doing that, I know I can be applying the gospel in my life instead of merely claiming to live it.
