Hi I'm Maddie Nilson

I was born and raised in Utah. I am many things; a sister, daughter, friend, student, hard worker, artist. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child in a family of five. There are my parents, my older sister who was recently married, and my little brother. My little brother is currently serving his mission in Novosibirsk, Russia. I graduated from high school in 2012, and after that I recieved my Associates of Science by the Fall of 2014. Although my degree officially says 'Science,' it was not done without an excess of Fine Art credits! In high school I was in AP Studio Art, and I conintued to study art in college. My favorite thing to draw is people, which some people think is crazy... But portraits are still my favorite! After I recieved my Associates Degree, I decided to turn in my mission papers! I am leaving for the Vancouver, Washington Mission in October 2015. I am really excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to have been born into a righteous, active LDS family. But even though I was raised as a Mormon, that does not mean that I didn't have to find out for myself that this church was true. Life is hard- I have had my share of trials, and I know that I will have many more- but it was through some of these trials that I came to know for myself that this church is true. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and know that it is true. Although written many years ago, I know that the doctrine found in its pages is true TODAY and will be forever, and that it can be applied to ANYONE because it is the same for EVERYBODY. I am a Mormon because I have seen miracles in my own life and in the lives of others. I know that those miracles, big or small, were the work of the Lord and were the results of faith, obedience and humility. I know that He knows all of us personally. He knows us, He loves us, and He knows what we need. He is always will to help us, we just have to have the humility simply ask.

How I live my faith

After I graduated from high school I relocated from my homeward to an amazing Singles Ward. There, I was called to play prelude music in the women's meeting (known as Relief Society) on Sundays to help invite the spirit before the lesson. Music is a great way to invite the Spirit, and even though I am not the best at the piano, I could always tell that the hymns being played before the lessons were very influential in encouraging reverence and inviting others to be receptive to the Spirit. I was also a visiting teacher! It was a great way to meet some of the great people in my ward and make friends.
