Hi I'm Ursula Torres

I'm Salvadorian. I love nature. I'm always smiling, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Ursula but my nickname since I was a baby and how I am known by everybody is "Chuly". I am a bank teller and I love talking with elderly people, they are the sweetest ones. I was born and raised in El Salvador and then I moved to the United States when I was 16. I love to draw in my free time and when I'm bored, and I love to write when I'm feeling happy or anxious. It helps me to relax. I'm taking the Pathway program and I finished my one year, now I'm taking Psychology with the BYU-I online. I'm an auntie and I love it. Singing is something that I enjoy doing as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love it. Because it helps me become a better person. I will never be perfect one day to another but I will surely be working on getting better a little bit more every single day. I've been a member "all my life" I was baptized when I was 11 years old, now I am 21. It's been 10 years full of trials, challenges, happiness, and times when I could have just said "I'm done" but I could see the hand of God in my life and that's what made me keep on going. Just like Elder Holland's talk says "Don't give up. Don't you quit. You keep walking, you keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead ... You keep your chin up, It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come." I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have never been more happy and full of hope, once you put your pride aside and let the Holy Spirit guide you, you will feel at peace. There was a time when I didn't want to do nothing else than just cry but the people at church lifted me up with their words and attitude towards me. You feel welcomed, loved, happy and you know that you matter because you can feel God's love. I love feeling all those amazing things because He is the one who gives pure love, never complaining for what you're doing, but loving and accepting you for who you are. We are His beloved children, and I'm happy I know that to be true.

How I live my faith

I used to work with the Young Women, I loved it so very much, now I am a Primary teacher, there's no greater blessing that to teach and help the future leaders of the church. I love to participate in activities and help planning them. I love to serve others because that's one of the teachings our Savior Jesus Christ taught us. ("When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God" Mosiah 2:17) He gave us the perfect example of many teachings such as Love, Service, Forgiveness, Humbleness, and many more.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Ursula Torres
My brother was killed by some gang members. It's been 8 years without him, it's been hard, but trough Christ's atonement my family and I know that we will see him again, and we will leave as a family, trough Christ's atonement I was able to forgive them. Because of Christ's atonement I knew I wasn't alone, and I knew that someone knew exactly how I felt, because of Him my heart is at peace, and I know that things always work out. Show more Show less
