Hi I'm Rachell

I grew up in an apple orchard in small farm town Idaho. I love music and fishing with my dad on the Salmon river. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have loved singing all my life and have enjoyed participating in organized choirs for over 12 years! I love fishing and camping with my family and watching college football! I am attending college and studying to become an elementary teacher. I love watching movies, reading books, and baking. I am serving a mission in Atlantic Canada!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life. This does not mean that I have not had my own conversion story. There came a time in my life where I felt the need to know for myself if the things that I had always been taught were true. I did what my leaders had told me to do and read the Book of Mormon, prayed, continued to go to church, and searched for answers. My answers came gradually, but I know with a surety that all these things are true. I am a Mormon because it taught me to love Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because it helps me want to do good, not because I am obligated to do so, but because it makes me happy. I am a Mormon because prayer works and Heavenly Father comforts His children. I am a Mormon because being a Mormon makes me truly happy, and what more could somebody want?

How I live my faith

I have had the awesome opportunity to be a leader in my age group in my church. I have learned how to love many different types of people, become organized, and participate in counsels to help me know how I can help others come to Jesus Christ. I have also been a chorister and music coordinator. The thing I love most of all is finding ways to do service in my community. I am a representative of Jesus Christ wherever I go and doing service helps me feel closer to Him. I am serving a mission in Atlantic Canada for 18 months.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jesus Christ is the head of this church. Just like in biblical times, He calls prophets to lead and guide His people on the Earth in the Latter Days. As directed by Him, a new prophet is called whenever the previous prophet has passed away. This new prophet is the senior apostle out of the twelve apostles. The new prophet will then call two counselors. After the prophet and his counselors (known as the first presidency) are called, they will have twelve other apostles to council with.
