Hi I'm Baz

I grew up in Ghana. I live in England. I'm a retired civil servant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of three children, two of whom are twins. The twin boys both served missions in England. I have three grandchildren at the moment. I enjoy cooking, especially for my family and friends. African dishes are my favorite. Peanut butter soup and fufu is my special dish. Sewing and reading are my favorite hobbies with some gardening on the side. I love being a Mormon, I've learnt to be patient and respect other people's views. I love my family and I miss them very much, especially my mom who is in Ghana now. I have brothers and sisters in Ghana who are not yet members, but I hope they will join some day when they have seen the light.

Why I am a Mormon

The first time the missionaries knocked on my door, I didn't want to talk to them but they kept coming for many years. Until one day I decided to listen to them. I loved what I heard, I realized the church was different from other churches because they have the priesthood authority, the Book of Mormon and a living Prophet. I prayed about the Book of Mormon and had a witness that it was a true testimony of the Saviour, which helped me to get baptised. I love being a Mormon because the teachings give me strength and I love hearing from the prophet each General Conference. I am happy that there is a beautiful temple in Ghana.

How I live my faith

I live by the word of wisdom. I was a primary teacher for a while, then was Relief Society Second Counsellor, and now the Single Adults representative in my ward. I study the scriptures, say my prayers every morning and evening. I visit the Preston Temple regularly. I love being in the temple because it is God's house and I feel the comfort of His love when I am in the temple. I have wonderful sisters in my ward, we have social activities which we all enjoy and get to know each other more.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?
