Hi I'm Matt Lloyd

I grew up in Syracuse, Utah. I enjoy skateboarding, snowboarding, hiking, and swimming. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school this year, and am about to leave on a mission. I love to skateboard and snowboard, as well as go on hikes and swim. I worked as a lifeguard and swim lessons instructor throughout high school. My family has always been big on camping, so I've been to many national parks and enjoy hiking and witnessing the beauty of nature. My brother and sister both like snowboarding, so we try to ride together at least once a season. I began skateboarding a lot in junior high, and I've skated all through high school until now, I will have to sacrifice this activity in order to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and raised me in the teachings of the church. I have a great love for my parents and my siblings, and have believed in its teachings from a very young age. I truly believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been a lifelong source of power and happiness in my life. At the center of the belief of the LDS church is the family. In "The Family: A Proclamation to the World," it states, "The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to his eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity." I am extremely grateful for being raised in a household with supportive, loving, and kind parents. I consider myself to be incredibly blessed to be a part of such a great family, and that my parents and siblings have always made it a priority to support one another. Because of the great happiness and positive influence that my family has brought in my life, I strive to be worthy to live with them in the next life. Hopefully I can share this message with others on my mission, so that they too can return to the kingdom of Heaven with their families.

How I live my faith

I make an effort to attend church every Sunday, and do my best to set a good example for others. I like going to church because it's a positive environment, and everybody is trying to better themselves. I've spent a lot of time at different skateparks around Utah, and sometimes people are very negative and crude there. Going to church and visiting the temple is a welcome, peaceful contrast to the harsh nature of our modern world. Once a month, my dad and I visit three families in our ward that have been assigned to us to home teach. We visit our families, ask them how they're doing and what they need help with, and share a gospel message with them. Home teaching has been a great blessing in my life, and I hope that we have blessed the lives of those we teach also.
