Hi I'm David

I grew up in Idaho Falls, ID. I'm serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Serving as a Missionary for the Lord Jesus Christ has been my biggest goal for the past five years, and I've been working for the past five years to make this dream a reality. After my mission I plan on working my way through college as I search for a wife and prepare to start a family, but in all these things my guiding star is the Lord and His Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

For most of my life religion was very uninteresting. Even though I was raised as a member of the Church, I never developed a true understanding of the Gospel, and I never truly lived the according to the teachings of the Church or its leaders. My lack of application eventually developed in full-blown rebellion and transgression, as I separated myself from the Church entirely and adopted a lawless life-style of self-indulgence. It was in the midst of this period of personal darkness and sin that God first extended His mighty arm of mercy and love towards me by the power of the Holy Ghost. It was during the greatest crises of my life, when I needed help the most, that I distinctly felt and learned to recognize the Spirit of God. As I admitted the superiority of the feelings and results that God inspired in my life, I began to seek after an understanding of who God was. Eventually, and miraculously, I was exposed to the teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith. It was then that the darkness began to be lifted from my mind and from my life, as I learned of his earnest testimony of Jesus Christ, and the powerful witnesses and revelations he received from God the Eternal Father. I learned for myself that the Book of Mormon was a true record of Jesus Christ, as I prayed and rejoiced in the outpouring of Light and spiritual truth that accompanies this Latter-Day Restoration of Christ Church. It was from the prophets of this Church that I learned the true doctrine of repentance, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And as the promises of the Holy Scriptures (including the Bible) began to be fulfilled in my life, my love and gratitude to God abounded, as it continues to abound to this day. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I know for myself that this work is true.

How I live my faith

The thing I love most about participating in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in my local congregation is the opportunities to serve that we all have as members. Rather than being a mere attendance statistic, I have been given responsibilities in the Church that have caused me to grow in my personal understanding and faith. In my most recent assignment as a Ward Missionary, I was privileged to participate in the Church's efforts to reach out to the new and less active members of our ward. As we visited them in their homes, and extended the hand of fellow-ship and friendship to those who were struggling in their faith, I felt the Savior's love and approval in a new way, from a new perspective. There truly is a divine power and influence in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church, that lifts us up to God together, and enables us to become a good and righteous influence in the lives of those we know and love.
