Hi I'm Joshua Barreiro

I was raised in California. I am the eldest sibling of a single mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for my entire life. I was very skeptical during my adolescent years but, like the famous saying, Heavenly Father does work in mysterious ways. I am planning to attend BYU-Idaho in the field of Electrical Engineering. I love the concept of technology and how it works; I like to see how things work and what each of the pieces do for the whole. I am very passionate about playing sports, primarily football and basketball. I am a musician by heart and was taught at a young age how to read music, trumpet being my first instrument. I then taught myself piano, the rudimentary basics, and am currently delving into guitar. My family means everything to me; I have two younger sisters and a single mother and their support always drives me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have witnessed and even experienced life that hasn't been accordance with the gospel and have seen the pain and unhappiness it brings. I have graciously been blessed to have His light with me and to have the strength to avoid those factors in my life that would delude the light I want to have. Certain experiences in my life brought great suffering into my life, and I had the choice of either turning towards the Church or away from it. For a while, I chose the second and it was nothing but confusion and conflict; conflict within myself, within my family, and within almost every other of my dealings. Without my asking, the love of Christ found me and Heavenly Father's plan for us and His hand was revealed to me. I felt so much love and the burdens I had been dragging with me were lifted up; I felt like Christ was really there, he really cared about me, and he was my friend. I never want to experience that anguish and darkness again, and in working harder than ever in the gospel I have been blessed with happiness beyond comparison and that's the direction I always want to follow.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always aspiring to be better. The standards I have are high because I do not wish to impress people, but to make my Heavenly Father happy. I know that in living through the gospel happiness and peace always come. I study the teachings and scriptures to understand my weaknesses in order to improve my being not just for myself but for my family, to be a beacon of light for them. When those around me ask, I try my best to express my feelings and thoughts and strive to serve as others as best as I can.
