Hi I'm Jamie

I grew up in California. I'm a CPA, married with 6 children. I love to play Minecraft with my kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading books and playing Minecraft with my kids. I love the Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who. I am a CPA and have an MBA. I have 6 children and accidentally delivered the last one at home - Google works wonders when delivering a breech baby!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ and want to be the best disciple I can be. I believe in the power of Faith and in the Grace of Jesus Christ, through whom I hope to be saved. I love the opportunities to serve others and to continuously progress in becoming the best person I can be. I have prayed and asked God if this church is true, if the Book of Mormon and Bible are true, if there are Prophets on the earth today, and I have felt His spirit fill my heart and mind. I feel in my heart that the Gospel is true, and it also logical to me in my mind. The more I learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the more it makes sense to me. I have not seen any visions or had any angelic visitors, and I don't need to, because I have faith that what I feel is from God.

How I live my faith

I am the Bishop (Pastor) of my Ward (Congregation) in the beautiful state of Georgia. Far from perfect, I work to minister to people, to help the poor, and to try and improve myself each day. I love and respect my wife, who helps me to be a better person and who is a wonderful example of following the Savior. I try to be the best father I can to my children, and teach them the basic principles of the Gospel: Faith, Repentance, Grace, saving Ordinances, and the importance of hard work and enduring to the end of our lives.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

The perspective of an eternal relationship with my wife has helped us through some health challenges with our children. Our oldest boys were both born with cleft lips and palates, one of them is almost legally blind and has Asperger syndrome, the other has multicystic dysplastic kidney. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and lots of tears and prayers, we have grown closer to God and to each other. There is no one I would rather be with today and forever than my sweet wife, Amanda, and our 6 AWESOME kids! Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

I am the Bishop of my ward (congregation). I do not get paid; the responsibility is a calling from God. The blessings that I and my family have received from our sacrifice have been worth more than any financial compensation could be. I have had the opportunity to watch people accept their Savior and move forward in their lives with joy and peace. I also have anxiety and depression - losing myself in the service of God is often the best therapy for those ailments. Show more Show less
