Hi I'm John Tucker Perkins

I grew up by the beach in California, I'm a black belt, an eagle scout, a loving brother and son, and i'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the boyscouts, so i have always loved to do adventurous things, and I have a lot of random hobbies like hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoorsy stuff. I did a martial art called Kuk Sool Won for about five years and I got a black belt, and even though I have not practiced in a few years, I really love martial arts and I want to continue when I return home. I love water sports of all kinds, but mostly water polo, even though i didn't get into it until later in high school. being on the water polo and swim teams was a lot of fun, and I feel like I will always love swimming because of that. My swim coach was also a lifeguard coach, so I decided to get my lifegaurd certification. I also love SCUBA diving, I got certified a few years ago, and there is a lot that I want to do with that. Overall I just really like to spend time with my family, and try new things. And I really love it when I can do both of those at the same time. Martial Arts and Boyscouts are two things that I did a lot with my brother and my father. And I plan on continuing these hobbies, along with others we may find, for the rest of my life. I am also a student at BYU, although I'm not entirely sure what I want to do for a living.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because there is more inside each and every one of us than we could ever understand. And thankfully I found what makes up the difference. Through my life there have been a lot of confusing things that have happened. But at the end of the day I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me, and who wants the best for me. but what makes that love so beautiful is the fact that He doesn't just love me or you because He loves everyone, He loves me and you because He knows us. He knows our hopes, our dreams, what motivates us, and what our weaknesses are. He loves us for who we are, in spite of our imperfections. I love my family more than anything else, and the idea of losing them can and has torn me down. But there is Someone who loves all of us in the same perfect way that God does, that has made it possible for me to live with Them forever. Jesus Christ, the savior and redeemer of the world, fulfilled God's plan to take on our sins, so that we can all return to live with Them. I'm a Mormon because I know the truth, and the truth has freed me from my fears, strengthened me in my life, and given me real, tangible happiness that I would do anything to hold onto. I'm a Mormon because the truth has set me free.

How I live my faith

I love my family very much, and I know that I can live with them for the rest of eternity. But I also believe that it would be selfish for me to not help others find the same peace and joy with their families that i've found with mine. My whole life I have tried to share the gospel with my friends and everyone around me. I just hope that my friends don't think that I wanted to convert them to win points or something, but just because I wanted them to be happy. But I also believe that everyone, no matter where they are, or what language they speak, deserves to hear the Gospel. I am currently a missionary for my church in Stockholm Sweden. I am trying to help the people of Sweden build their own relationships with God, and in a world of changing values and compromising standards, I think that this work is very important.
