Hi I'm Nathan

I am a s'more fanatic, love card games, speak Lao, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently a missionary serving in the Great California San Diego Mission, speaking Lao. I love the people and weather here, and especially love the work. Originally, I'm from Murray, UT, and back home, I had a passion for s'mores and card games. As far as the s'mores go, let's just say I accidentally caught the chocolate chips on fire in a toaster oven before... I've improved the recipe since then. And in regards to the card games, I love a good chance to play a variety of games and get the gears in my head rolling. After my mission, I plan to study engineering at the University of Utah, and continue to contribute to my community.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it many times, and know that it is true. Through this, I have also learned that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins, as well as the sins of everyone, and that through this, I can return to live with him and Heavenly Father. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is the restored church on the earth today, and that it brings the greatest joy that anyone can have. I feel it every time I keep a commandment, every time I bear my testimony, and every time I listen to others around me.

How I live my faith

Well, across several years in the church, I have help callings ranging from priesthood pianist to Deacon's quorum president, but to me, the most important part is to actually practice what you believe. A big part of that for me is to be a missionary and help spread the gospel. It's like having a bag of gold that never runs out, so why not share it with everyone you can? And then even beyond that, it goes down to the simple practices of faith that we should do every day of our lives. Scripture study and prayer, and weekly taking the sacrament are some of the most important foundations of faith anyone can have. The ultimate goal of this life it to become Christlike, so we need to be doing things that will help us do that. Another thing that I plan to do after my mission is to help refugees - God's children that have been misplaced out of their homes and are looking for a new and better way of life. The Savior always went to the poor and lowly in heart to help lift them up, and I have a strong desire to follow in His footsteps. In the end, the way I live my faith is to try my best, and when I mess up, to try again.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The "Mormon Lifestyle" is one that helps us be clean and help others around us. It is one in which we try to be like Jesus Christ. If any of us ever bother you in an attempt to share our faith, it's because we are happy and want you to be happy also. In the end, we are still imperfect people trying to do our best, just like the rest of the world. The thing that makes is different is high standards of conduct, such as a laws of sexual purity and physical health, in addition to everything we do being focused on Christ and coming closer to Him. It may seem like a rough or restrictive way of life, but it's actually one that offers more freedoms than any other. Show more Show less
