Hi I'm Teija

I grew up in Utah. I love sports like track and soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from high school in May 2015 and have been called to serve a mission in the Georgia Atlanta North mission. I am very competitive about anything from soccer to badminton to Pictionary. I enjoy reading books and some of my favorites include Mistborn, Peter and the Starcatchers, Elantris, and the Book of Mormon. Art is also very important to me and I recently created a hybrid animal portfolio that included a Loctopus (Lion and octopus), Zameleon (Zebra-striped Chameleon) and a Cat Cow. I have three sisters and one little brother. I am the middle child and its the best.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight and have continued to follow his teachings and learn more about the covenants I made at that time due to loving guidance and support from my parents, leaders, friends and seminary teachers. I have learned so much from attending church, seminary and participating in family scripture study. My testimony has grown immensely even just while preparing to serve a mission. I am so excited to see how much it branches out and changes while I am out serving. I know that the Holy Ghost is real and can be present constantly in each of our lives. I have felt Christ's love for others and have felt it for me. I know that the Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book on this earth and that Joseph Smith is and was a true prophet called of God. I know that families can be together forever and that the covenants we make in the temple allow that to be so. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

On Sundays I go to a Mission Prep class that helps us to understand as we study out of the Preach My Gospel book. This class is taught by my mom and another brother in our ward. My mom served her mission in the Helsinki, Finland mission and has awesome stories that she tells to frighten and encourage us. I also attend a youth group on Sunday nights that we call PMG. (just the abbreviation of Preach My Gospel) At these meetings we discuss things out of the PMG book, share our thoughts and opinions and bear our testimonies. There is always a sweet spirit there and these meetings have strengthened my testimony and soul beyond what anything else could have done. It is here that I really learned how to recognize the spirit, received personal revelation, and truly decided to serve a mission.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is like knowing the rules and purpose of a game that everyone is playing, but not everyone knows how. You want to tell everyone how to play but sometimes you are worried that they will be offended and think that you are telling them that the way they are playing is wrong. Sometimes people will tell you that YOU are playing it wrong. So you try to show others how to play by your example. The game is really fun to play at times and really hard to play at others. You have your family on your team, but sometimes they are the reason the game is hard to play! You see others breaking the rules and sometimes you break the rules, but the Coach is very forgiving and always gives you a second chance.
