Hi I'm Sam

I am from Oxnard, California, USA just north of Los Angeles. My mother is Hawaiian and my father is Serbian. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and recently graduated from high school. I was valedictorian of my graduating class and love to learn. I am also involved in the Boy Scouting program. I am an Eagle Scout and have been involved in Scouting activities all my life. I am serving a mission from February 2016 - February 2018 in Barcelona Spain and then I will attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I have been deferred for the duration of my mission. I am interested in studying business and political science with the hope to become an attorney in the future. My family members are the most important people to me in the world. I have two loving parents and an older sister who has three children of her own. They are my greatest support support and best of friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church. When I was baptized at the age of 8, I had to make the decision for myself, if i wanted to be a member of His church. Throughout my life I have prayed and asked for guidance and direction to know the truth of things and to know which choices are the best for me. I have a testimony that this church is the true church of Christ on this earth. I choose to live the standards of the gospel and strive to follow the example of the Savior because it makes me happy. Obeying the commandments set forth by God and serving in his name, brings me great joy and happiness everyday. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have had a personal and spiritual confirmation that it is the true church of God. I have been blessed with a firm testimony through prayer, to know the truthfulness of this gospel. I know that all who ask to know of the truthfulness of the gospel with a humble heart and real intent, will receive the same confirmation that I have had. Our loving heavenly father is waiting for us to kneel down in fervent prayer. He is waiting to pour us out blessings from heaven. All we need to do is ask and live righteously. This is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in various capacities in my local religious organization called a "ward". I have served in numerous youth leadership positions and have been privileged to pass, prepare, and bless the holy bread and water, or sacrament, that members of the church partake of every Sunday. Being an active member in my church has also led me to be able to serve in my community. As a youth member, I have visited places like food pantries, homeless shelters, and welfare assistance facilities where I have been able to help my brothers and sisters who are in need. As a boy scout I have also been able to provide many acts of service for my local and and state wide community. Now as a missionary I will be able to serve the people of Spain and I will have the opportunity to share with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
