Hi I'm Sister Schumann

Sister Missionary in the Alpine German Speaking Mission!

About Me

I am the only girl in my family. I have 4 brothers so I know how to rough with the best of them. I have played competitive soccer for 12 years and love it. I am currently attending Southern Utah University. I am pursuing my bachelors degree in Child and Family Psychology and hope to go on to get my doctorate degree. This semester I traded the soccer cleats for football cleats as I am playing on an inter-mural flag football team. I love running around and being part of a team!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I would not be here without this gospel. This gospel has carried me through the hardest times in my life. It has helped me overcome rejection, illness, heartbreak, family tragedy, and personal injury. I have been blessed as I have prayed and received my own witness that Jesus is The Christ. I have grown to love the scriptures and I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. My membership in this church can be summed up by the hymn, "Because I Have Been Given Much". The first and third verse read "Because I have been given much I too must give Because of thy great bounty Lord Each day I live I shall divide gifts from thee With every brother that see Who has the need of help from me Because I have been blessed by thy great love dear Lord I’ll share thy love again According to thy word I shall give love to those in need I’ll show that love by word and deed Thus shall my thanks be thanks in deed" Because of the blessings I have been given through this gospel I am where I am today. I now must share this great blessing and knowledge with others. That is why I am serving a mission. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary in the Alpine German Speaking Mission. I had a hard time deciding if it was best for me to serve a mission or if I should focus on my education. Many worldly temptations have tried to get in my way. I have received witness over and over again that a mission is where Heavenly Father needs me to be. My call has been a huge tender mercy. My grandparents grew up in Germany and lived in a lot of the areas that my mission covers. It is also a tender mercy because my father served in the same mission! The biggest tender mercy of all has come because my grandmother recently passed away. A few weeks before she died I told her I was going to submit my mission papers. She told me she hoped I would go to Germany where she grew up. As I held her hand as she passed away I felt I would become closer to her than ever before. I am called to serve where my ancestors lived and I know my grandmother will be with me the entire time. Especially as I visit places she once walked. I love being a missionary!
