Hi I'm Eliza

Fashion gal. Artist gal. Music gal. Mormon gal.

About Me

Hello. I am a college student currently studying English with an emphasis in Technical Writing. I hope to be an editor for a publication on the east coast. Boston, Massachusetts is one of my favorite places in the world and I hope I end up there someday. I grew up in California and am grateful everyday for my childhood. I was exposed to many different cultures and experiences that have shaped my outlook on the world and the many different types of humans that live in it. I enjoyed swimming, playing the piano, and reading oodles of noodles of books. I moved to Utah when I was 11 years old and have loved it. Though I miss the warm weather of California and get really discouraged by snow, I know this is where I'm supposed to be. I love going to funky dance parties to get down with my bad self. I love buying and putting together unique outfits. I firmly believe that fashion is the ultimate form of self expression and I love getting dressed each day. I love playing and listening to music. Though my piano, ukelele, and mandolin playing will never take me to a stage, I love listening to musicians that are brave enough and willing to share their musical talents with others to be interpreted in so many ways. I love art. I'm super self centered and am not afraid to hang my artwork on my own wall. I love horrible movies and cringe-worthy puns. I also love good movies. I do not like yogurt and will never understand the appeal.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I don't know anything else that could bring such happiness and guidance. When I was 15 I considered leaving the church and abandoning my testimony after my father unexpectedly split from my mother and left the church. Other things in my life seemed to start crashing down all at once and crush me in the process. I felt alone, broken, and so sad. But through the very thing I wanted to abandon, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have rebuilt my personal foundation. My testimony is a wall that can never be broken. I have felt the Savior's loving arms around me in times of trial and tribulation. I have seen his hand influence all things in my life. The phrase "I wouldn't be where I am today without," is used so loosely in our society but I'm here to say with love and absolute assurance that I WOULD NOT BE WHERE I AM TODAY WITHOUT THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS. The Savior only wants us to do good things and wants us to be the best we can be. It is increasingly harder to do these things as the world seems to crumble. But every time I have made a decision after receiving a prompting or feeling inside to do so, I have benefited greatly from it. The Lord does things in His own timing and in His own way, but I trust both of those completely. The Savior died for us. He took upon our sins so that we may live again with Him. He is the Prince of Peace, Wonderful, Counselor, and my elder brother. The gospel is truly so simple but I learn new things everyday about it and know that I have so much more to learn. I love my life so much.

How I live my faith

CHURCH IS THE BEES KNEES. Sunday is my favorite day. I love attending all my meetings and learning more about my Savior, Jesus Christ. Sunday is when I can recharge my physical, emotional, and spiritual batteries. Sunday is also a day to hear the testimonies of others and about the joy that the gospel has brought to their lives. I have recently been able to stick with a daily habit of prayer and scripture study. I have struggled to do this my whole life and I've finally been able to stick with it. I feel a significant difference in my days because of doing these basic principles. I try to go to the temple every week. I love the temple more than anything and feel it bless me and my life every time I go. I love singing and playing hymns. Music is a fantastic example expressing your love for Jesus Christ. In my daily life, I try to be a calming influence to others. The world is so full of noise, sadness, evil, and chaos and the last thing we need is people that amplify those things. Everyone needs someone to tell them that they're doing great and that things will work out and I hope I can be that person. I love to listen to people. I'm happy to be anyone's soundboard and to absorb some of the troubles they may be experiencing. I may not be able to solve every problem, but I'm willing to share the burdens of people around me in an effort to lighten their load.
