Hi I'm Monica

I was born and raised in Utah. My passion is the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 5. I have 2 younger brothers and I grew up doing all the things that the boys do! I remember catching frogs and snakes in the irrigation ditch behind our house, and playing in the sandbox. I love getting dirty! I also grew up doing competitive shooting sports. I love to shoot and hunt with my dad and my brothers. I also love hiking, camping, and fishing with my family. I worked in Alaska as a dock hand for 2 summers and I loved it! I also have a girly side. Every once in a while I like to dress up and be a girl. When I was 12 I did a beauty pageant and was Jr. Miss. I like to watch chick flicks and make smoothies. Life is always better with ice cream!

Why I am a Mormon

As a missionary I have been asked by a lot of people if the only reason I am a member of this church is because I was raised in it. I always tell them that even though I was raised in the church, I also had to convert to it. I am so grateful for the things that my parents taught me, but there came a point in my life that I had to decide for myself if the things that the church taught are true. I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have prayed to know for myself if it's true. I am here to tell you that I KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, that this church is 100% TRUE! I have received that answer from my Heavenly Father, and I will never look back. I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have now as a missionary to share that knowledge with others.

How I live my faith

The gospel has always been a big part of my life. When I was growing up my parents made sure that we had Family Home Evening every week, and that we spent meaningful time together. We also read the Book of Mormon together and had family prayers. I know that these activities really helped to make me into the person I am today. As I grew older, I had more opportunities to serve in my church. When I was called to serve as a teacher for the women's class, I was surprised and felt very inadequate, but I am grateful for the opportunity that it gave me, and for the ways I have benefited from it. I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the West Virginia Charleston Mission!
