Hi I'm Katherine

I am 19 years old. I am a student at UCLA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents are from Guatemala. I have four other sisters of which I am the middle child. I grew up learning how to play the violin and I eventually taught myself to play the piano. I absolutely love all types of music from classical to metal. I also love watching movies; it is not a exaggeration when I say I can watch movies all day long. I recently just finished my first year of college at the University of California Los Angeles. As I attended school, I worked a part-time job in order to pay off school costs and save money for a mission. I have been currently called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the El Salvador, Santa Ana mission where I will spend a period of 18 months serving those around me and my Father in Heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because I have seen the miracles and blessings this gospel brings. Without the gospel in my life, I would not be where and who I am today. I have earnestly sought the truth; I have witnessed and felt the validity of this church, for it is the true and restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It will touch your heart, no matter how old, wise, or abled you are; but you must humble yourself unto God to know of its sincerity. This gospel has blessed my family and I know that as we strive to live by its teachings, we will one day live again with our Father in Heaven for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I think one of the most important ways I live my faith is by showing others who I am. Not necessarily saying I am a Mormon, but showing them exactly what I believe in. Whether it is dressing modestly, reading my scriptures, praying, keeping the Sabbath Day holy, not drinking coffee and striving to maintain my moral standards for myself and those around me even during these socially tough times. I help others because I believe that everyone has the opportunity in this life to reach their greatest potential!
