Hi I'm Eliza Hertzberg

I am from California and recently received my mission call to the Honduras Comayaguela mission! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Eliza. I am currently a freshman in my first semester of college and loving life! I am from California and am the oldest of four. The things I love most in life are the gospel and spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy hiking, jogging, surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, wakeboarding, camping, and reading. I recently received my mission call to the Honduras Comayaguela mission and could not be more excited about that! I am very humbled by this call and cannot wait to be able to spend eighteen months in the service of the lord teaching and helping the people of Honduras.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. This gospel has shaped my life and helped me recognize the beautiful, peaceful way Heavenly Father has designed this mortal existence to be. I know trials will come, and times can get really hard, but I also know with a surety that there is a way set up for us that allows for repentance, forgiveness, and miraculous change to occur in our lives and within ourselves. I have always believed this church is true, but did not always make correct choices. I spent times in my life without the spirit and know first hand that that is a hard, sad, guilty way to live. I also know that through the atonement of Christ, we can be healed and return to the straight and narrow path. The more I learn about this gospel, the more I know of its truth. We have a heavenly father who loves us enough to send his only begotten son down to earth to atone for the sins of the world. Through this sacrifice we can all repent and through Christ as our advocate, return to live with our Heavenly Father in exalted glory. I am so grateful for my testimony and am excited to teach this wonderful gospel with others.

How I live my faith

I recently became part of a new ward since I moved up to school so I have been able to receive a few new callings. I am a compassionate service assistant which means that I have a special responsibility to look out for people in my ward who may need a little extra help or love and provide that for them. If someone is sick I would be the one to visit her and organize a few people to make her dinners until she feels better. I am also a visiting teacher which means I get to go with my visiting teaching companion and visit two other sisters in my ward each month just to make sure they are doing well and give them a little lesson. I love serving others and know that true joy and satisfaction come from losing yourself in the service of others. All kinds of service is rewarding, but I especially love spending time with people with mental or physical disabilities because I have found that it is these people who possess the sweetest, most grateful, hopeful, and humble spirits.
