Hi I'm Lauren

I grew up in Southern Utah. I'm a runner, reader, and prolific note taker. I'm serving a mission in Lubbock, Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Northern California and raised in St. George, Utah. I have one older brother and two younger sisters who I love to death! My sisters are my best friends and I don't know where I would be without my family. Throughout my life I have been very involved in sports, namely track and soccer. I absolutely love running and the sense of freedom I experience each time I hit the pavement. I have also always been involved in different student council positions and volunteer work. I love being able to give of my time and energy to help others have a little more happiness in their lives. I am a big reader and have a passion for writing and editing. I hardly go anywhere without a notepad and pen to jot down notes! I attended Brigham Young University for two semesters studying Communications with an emphasis in Journalism before leaving on my mission. I am currently serving in the Texas Lubbock mission, Spanish speaking, and am loving every minute of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that is very active in the Church. My grandparents were Mormon, my parents are Mormon, and I am a Mormon. However, I'm not just a Mormon because my family is, I'm a Mormon because I know without a doubt in my mind that this church is true. I think that I have always believed that the church was true, but until I had moved out and started living on my own, I didn't fully know. While attending college I had several experiences that caused me to really reflect on my life and the ways that I was living. These moments of reflection and prayer brought me to realize that everything I wanted to believe and know had always been right there, I just hadn't let myself fully believe and live it. Since preparing for and coming out on my mission I have come to know with all my heart and soul that I have a Heavenly Father who knows me perfectly and loves me infinitely. I know that my Savior loves me more than I can ever comprehend; so much so that He was willing to feel and experience all of my pains, sins, and sorrows so that I can be lifted up and once again live with my Heavenly Father someday. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, that it is the word of God written by ancient prophets for each of us to read and receive strength and guidance from each time we read from its pages. Without this knowledge, I was lost with no where really to turn to for direction. But with it, I have experienced greater peace and joy than I ever could have imagined possible for me. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ has given me hope and light in an ever darkening world; and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through serving others and doing my very best to live as the Savior did. Throughout my life I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve others through leadership and student council positions, church callings, volunteer work, and now a full time mission. Nothing brings me more happiness than knowing that I was able to brighten someone's day or bring a smile to their face. I was blessed to grow up in a predominately Mormon community and was able to serve with many people in different councils and leadership positions who have helped me become who I am today. Serving in these positions gave me the opportunity to build many friendships and to do my part in contributing to the school and community. However, some of the greatest ways that I have been able to live my faith have been through callings that I have held in the church. During my Junior year of high school I was called to serve in Special Needs Mutual. In this calling I was able to work individually with one of the sweetest girls I have ever met and to simply be her friend as she attended mutual and participated in different activities, such as a roadshow. Serving in this calling gave me a glimpse of what my Heavenly father must feel towards me. It gave me the opportunity to truly forget myself in the service of others, and to love someone unconditionally, no matter how they felt towards you that day. Serving in this calling changed me and made me want to commit my life to helping others and treating them more as the Savior did and would. I have also served in different class presidencies throughout my years in Young Women's and most recently as a Primary teacher. I have loved every calling I have held in the church and the lessons they have taught me, and feel the exact same way regarding my current call as a full time missionary! I love this gospel with all my heart and each day count my blessings in being a member of the church.
