Hi I'm Sam Clift

I was born in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A couple of things about me. I just graduated from high school where I played trumpet and sang in the choir. I've always got a song in my heart and much to the annoyance of my family I whistle or hum 24/7. I have been called on a mission to the Mexico Mexico City South mission which I've heard is the best mission in the world and I'm pretty sure I agree. I'm a pretty relaxed person normally, (everyone just needs to calm down a little) but when it comes to the Church I can't be more energetic. I love everything about the church and I want to share that with everyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church and I have grown a testimony over the years but as I grew into a teenager my testimony plateaued. I was gaining a testimony from seminary and other sources but I wasn't changing anything in my life. I believed but I was unwilling to accept that I wasn't making any progress. Then, as I was nearing my 18th birthday, many of my friends started to get their mission papers submitted and they began to get their mission calls back. So I lethargically began my mission papers taking my time. I chose to go on a mission because I have faith and I knew that was the path my Heavenly Father wanted me to take but I didn't have a drive to serve a mission. With the help of a good friend, I realized that at the rate I was going, I was headed toward mediocrity and a mission that wouldn't live up to the potential that it could be. By this time I had my mission call and I decided to step up my game through one simple thing: Obedience. I decided to become a true follower of Jesus Christ. Meaning I actually followed him. I tried to love on another. I listened to the prophet and followed his council. I studied my scriptures as Jesus had when he was young, and I came to see what all the fuss was all about. I cannot the describe the incredible faith I gained because of the blessings that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, and that by following its teachings we can be the happiest we can be.

How I live my faith

The biggest way I live my faith is to actually live it. I go to Sacrament meeting every week and other meetings on the weekdays. I read my scriptures and pray as often as I remember. Basically I try to fill my life with the gospel because that is what makes me happy, and I want to be happy. I'm pretty lazy (just ask my mom), and you would think that all these Church rules would annoy me, but every time I overcome, I can see the blessings I get from it.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Sam Clift
Mormons don´t have paid clergy because when the Lord offered his gospel to his people he did not offer it at a price. While on the Earth, he never charged for the miracles he wrought. He [fed] the flock of God..., taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 1 Peter 5:2 God served and we serve because we love our fellow man not because we are looking for pay.
