Hi I'm Dyanna

I'm a New Yorker and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a daughter of wonderful parents. I was born and raised in New York City. I love discovering new foods from different countries. And I love music and dance.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel at peace with the Lord. This church has taught me that I am a child of God that loves me and he wants me to be happy. I learned that when I keep His commandments, I demonstrate my love for Him. After my faith was tested, I prayed to know if this church was true. I did not receive my answer immediately, but throughout my experiences the spirit revealed to me, through warm but a strong feeling in my chest, that this is God's work. I gained a testimony of the priesthood, which is the power of God given to man to serve all God's children. Every time I have received a priesthood blessing I have always felt the love He has for me. I love this gospel, I know if we accept God's invitation to pray we shall receive an answer. Through experience, I know God will answer our questions in His due time because He knows when we are ready to hear the truth.

How I live my faith

I was born and raised in New York City. I love New York, but it wasn't always easy growing up as a member. Growing up in school, I didn't know many LDS friends, so my friends were always from other religions. I'm grateful for that experience because I was opened to different cultures and beliefs; but I didn't have many church friends to ask for advice when I had a question. I was lucky to be in a family ward that was filled with wonderful people that were like family to me. But there came a time when my faith was challenged. My friends didn't understand why it was such a big deal to follow commandments and go to church. I was confused if being a member of this church was the best thing for me. So I stopped going to church for 3 months and I realized I wasn't happy. That the life my friends pictured for me wasn't true happiness. I prayed to Heavenly Father and asked what I should do. I expressed my feelings and concerns I had. While I was praying, I felt as if the Lord hugged me tightly and I knew that He had forgiven me. I also knew what I had to do. So I went back to church, trust learned about Jesus Christ's Atonement, I started reading the scriptures, and prayed often. I started to live the commandments and gospel principles. I am so grateful to have prayed that night because my life has changed so much in so many wonderful ways.
