Hi I'm Aly

I was recently baptized, in September, after 12 years of waiting for 18th bday. I am currently planning a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an 18 year old who is taking some time off of college. I LOVE music and I am planning on pursuing a degree in music education! I participated in anything and everything my school had to offer music wise. I was a drum major (I conducted the marching band) and I played oboe and english horn in orchestra and band and, my favorite musical. We premiered The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins high school productions. I also played tenor saxophone in jazz band and marching band. I swam in high school and I was decent but I cared more about the music aspect of school. Also, I really love SNL and skits and theater and musicals so I am also wanting to minor in theater. I really enjoy kids and teaching hence my educational future.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were divorced when I was a young age and I was baptized Greek Orthodox even younger. When my mom and my step dad go married my grandpa convinced us to go to start going to church. My biological dad wouldn't allow me to be baptized as a Mormon. I had ups and downs. Going to church and staying home. My siblings all stopped coming with us. I eventually started living with my mom only. I talked to my bishop and asked if I could be baptized. He said no. I needed my dad's consent. Ever since that day when I was 15 or 16, my bishop never gave up on me. Every time he saw me, "still planning on getting baptized when you're18?" MY answer was always, "I think so." It wasn't until I started the missionary lessons in March that I got super serious about my baptism. Yet, the struggle didn't end there. Satan threw so many obstacles at me to prevent me from being baptized. But here I am. Happier than I've ever been. My brother and two step sisters didn't get baptized and they have to plan to, but through my influence, maybe they'll see how happy I am and hopefully join me. I am graduated but but taking a year off of college to relax and I am wanting to serve a mission so bad lately since I have such good influences. I am so proud o who am I and the direction my life is going.

How I live my faith

Since I was recently baptized, I needed a calling. I got the best calling in the whole world. I am the Sunbeam teacher! Those are the cutest kids with the biggest hearts and they are so sweet and loving I am the happiest person. When I was in young womens I was the Laurel Secretary because whoever that was didn't need to be baptized so I was so excited to have my first calling! But, being a Sunbeam teacher is so awesome and so many people are being super supportive of my baptism and calling. I am so lucky to have the huge support group and I love going to church every single week and being around the people and kids I love.
