Hi I'm Brandon

I grew up in Alpine, Utah. I'm a scholar, a musician, a linguist, and a friend. But most importantly, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music, whether its listening to music or playing, I can't get enough of it. I play the French Horn and played in a marching band for three years. Music is my passion. I love reading, thinking, and imagining. Stories of far away places or fantastic events inspire me, and I want my own life to be like that. I attended university for a year studying business, but also foreign languages. I love studying cultures and hearing about the different people around the world. There's always more to learn and study, and I love being able to learn new things and apply them to my own life. Currently, I am serving a mission in Slovakia.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Gospel and grew up with the teachings and standards of the church, but my parents always left the choice to me of whether I wanted to be baptized, go to church, and participate in church activities. It was important to them that I knew for myself and not because I simply grew up with it. This led me to search out the truth and ask for myself with sincerity and real intent. I didn't want to be fooled or tricked, but I believed God would tell me what was right and wrong if I asked in Faith. I received a witness for myself of the Book of Mormon, and I know that witness was from God. I cannot deny my faith, and I love what the Gospel has given me and the blessings that a testimony brings. It brings me peace and comfort to have a relationship with God, and I believe in the promptings of the Spirit. I have never had a prompting from the Spirit to make any decision contrary to the teachings of the church, or to follow any other organization other than the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am a Mormon because I have a witness for myself that I know to be from God that this church is true. I testify that the witness that I received is real, and that all people who ask in Faith with a real and sincere desire to know the truth can receive that same witness.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the Gospel, and have spent the better part of my life participating in boy scouts and Priesthood quorums in leadership positions. I've had the unique, and humbling experience of watching over the youth around me as one of their leaders, yet also being one of them. This has given me a deep love for the people around me, and has taught me how to care about them as individuals, their lives, and their choices. Over the course of many years, I've been able to act as an example to my peers as one of their leaders in trying to make good choices to be happy, and I've found that as I strived to be a better person, to live a morally clean life for their sakes, it made me a happier person and they respected me more for it. I loved having that positive influence in their lives, and the influence I continue to have on them years later as their friend even though I am no longer in those leadership positions. I know the importance of righteous living through those experiences. And that my actions and decisions do affect the people around me, whether I know them or not. This has driven me to try and be the best that I can be, because I want the people around me to be happy. :)

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, who were prophets and men of God who believed what they taught and what they lived, and had the desire to record that witness for us. It was written by individuals who wanted to show others how they came to know God, and was intended for their posterity to help guide them, much like how we keep journals to share with others our own lives. That's what the Book of Mormon is, a very long journal, spanning hundreds of years, about a people that wanted to follow God. Show more Show less
