Hi I'm Samantha Foster

I was born in Draper, Utah and moved to Houston, Texas around the age of 8. I am serving as a missionary in Santa, Rosa California

About Me

I currently am serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Santa Rosa, California, Spanish speaking. I love to sing and run and before my mission attended BYU-I. I have two younger sisters and two twin cousins who live in Texas with my parents.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, so like most born into the faith I relied heavily on my parents testimony for the church as I went with them to church every Sunday and had them to take me to activities. I followed in their footsteps and thanks to their example am where I am today. They taught me how to love the gospel and how to feel of the Holy Ghost. My testimony really started when I began reading in the Book of Mormon and praying each day. I think that everyone who is born into the church has a decision. They either choose to continue in the church or to not. For a time in my life the church was definitely not my main concern and the Holy Ghost wasn't with me as much as it could have been. When I started to read and pray daily I noticed the change of feeling. It took me a while to realize that what I was feeling was the Holy Ghost, but when I did my testimony strengthened. With that understanding I continued to attend church camps, meetings, and activities. I also became friends with others in the church and they are today my greatest friends. As all this continued my testimony continued to grow and the knowledge that this gospel is so very true came with it. I know that this church is true with all of my heart. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he translated the Book of Mormon. I bear my testimony that Christ lives and that He loves us. He died for each of us and wants us all to progress to go back to live with Him again. I testify that the power of prayer is real and that our Father in Heaven has sent us the Holy Ghost to guide us back to Him. I also know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon is true, that it is another testament of Jesus Christ, and that through it we can come to know the fullness of Christ's gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be an example of Jesus Christ each day. I try to follow in his footsteps and gain the characteristics that He exemplified when He was on the earth. Christ is our perfect example and if we are trying our best to be like Him we will be able to have the spirit with us to guide us. I try to read the scriptures, prayer, and attend church each Sunday so that I may be able to feel of the Holy Ghost and be lead and guided to things that will help me grow. Right now I am serving as a full time missionary for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Santa Rosa, California. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to set aside this time in my life. to be able to fully dedicate every moment to the Lord. He helps me to become more of the person He sees that I can be each day. Before my mission I helped out with the youth, I was on a committee to plan conferences and firesides for the them! I also served as a ward music conductor and was in a presidency for the young women that were members near me! At college I helped plan activities for the different assigned groups and was a visiting teacher for other girls that I went to church with there!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Samantha Foster
The atonement of Jesus Christ is one of the greatest blessings you and I will ever receive. There will never be words that will be able to in fullness describe the sacrifice that Christ made for us when He accomplished the atonement. The atonement is a combination of when Christ suffered for us, when He was crucified for us, and when He was resurrected for us. It all was for us. When Christ bleed from every pore and suffered for us he paid the price for ALL of our sins. Because of this sacrifice we are able to repent of any and all sins that we commit no matter the severity. He suffered for all of our sins but Christ also suffered for all of our experiences and feelings here. He felt every single feeling you and I will ever feel. It was excruciating for Him but He did this so that in the moments when we feel we are lower than low we can know for a surety that there is someone there, whom we can reach through prayer, that has experienced it before. When Christ was crucified for us he died for us. If suffering for our sins hadn't been enough he continued to suffer for them as he hung on a cross. He suffered a painful and lonely death so that we would NEVER have to, He experienced the worst of the worst because he never wanted us too. And then he was resurrected for us. He rose three days later so He could make it possible for our spirits to be reunited with our bodies once again so we could return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven forever.
