Hi I'm McKay

I grew up in Utah. I lived in a small town. I love the mountains. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Growing up in a small mountain valley I had lots of great opportunities to enjoy the mountains. I grew up fishing and hiking with my family. I've learned to love rock climbing, mountain biking, running, and camping. I now attend Brigham Young University and am studying Mechanical Engineering. I love working on bikes and would love to someday design and build them. I've played the violin for 12 years, and the piano for about 10 years. I love picking up new instruments and trying to figure out how they work even if I don't sound very good. Music is a passion of mine, and I've loved being a violin teacher for 6 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember on specific instance at a scout camp when I first knew that the Book of Mormon is true and that this is the true church of Christ on the earth today. My bishop was encouraging us to pray to know that the Book of Mormon was true much like Moroni asks us to do. I took the challenge seriously and was overcome completely by the spirit to the point that I couldn't stop crying. Since then I've had many many powerful spiritual experiences that have reaffirmed my testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. I'm a better person because I know that God loves and cares about me and is involved in my life every single day. I know that He answers prayers and that He loves ALL of his children!

How I live my faith

The church has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of giving talks in primary. As I've grown up I've been blessed to serve as a youth leader and assistant youth leader. It's been wonderful planning and carrying out activities to bring the members of my ward closer to each other and closer to Christ. Since moving to BYU I've been called to serve as a home teacher and I look forward to serving my neighbors as I help them grow in the gospel and as we grow our testimonies of Jesus Christ together.
