Hi I'm Susannah

I am a type 1 diabetic, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and there are no words to describe how thankful I am to have been sealed in the temple to them for eternity! I have a forgiving, loving, sister and strong parents who have taught me to love and serve Jesus Christ. Oh, and I have a little brother, a feisty kitty who has had way more than 9 lives and will probably out-live us all! Our family is not perfect, but we always try to forgive and support each other. Our trials have strengthened us. I know Heavenly Father knows and loves my family. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a couple days before my 12th birthday. It has been the heaviest burden I have ever carried and I have had to rely on my Savior every day. I know he knows what it feels like to be on a blood sugar roller-coaster, to have to think about blood sugars constantly, to count carbs, to give yourself injections, to have to eat when you're not hungry, to be misunderstood! I have learned so much and I love teaching people about diabetes and helping other diabetics. And sometimes it's fun to give shots in front of people to see their reaction! I recently got a green insulin pump which my cousins named Kermie. I'm so thankful for insulin, blood glucose meters, and glucose tabs! I enjoy playing the piano, singing, swimming, teaching swimming and piano, camping, bike riding, playing with kids, learning the gospel, and serving. I leave on my mission to Florida in one month and I'm so excited to meet and love and serve my brothers and sisters there!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!!! I LOVE my Savior, Jesus Christ! I know know know know that through Him, we can overcome ALL sins, weaknesses, sickness, and pain because of His atonement. I owe everything to Him. He has made it possible for me to return to my Heavenly Father with my family, to live in eternal happiness. It makes me cry to think about it. Oh how He loves you! He guides His restored church today through President Thomas S. Monson. I know Joseph Smith restored this church and translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true. Pray to know for yourself! Heavenly Father cares about you. You are His child! He will show you the truth of all things. Trust Him! All He wants is for His children to be happy.

How I live my faith

Wherever I am, I try to focus on others and help them feel loved. It makes me so sad to see people gossiping, bullying, and leaving others out. We are all equal in the eyes of Heavenly Father. He loves each of us incomprehensibly. Our differences complement each other. We each have unique talents that we can use to bless each other. Heavenly Father's love is not dependent on what you look like, what you have accomplished, or what you haven't accomplished. Always try to focus on the positive in yourself and others; that is the way God is. I hope that I can help people come to know Jesus Christ and His love for them through the way I treat them. I serve the adult sisters in my ward and try to visit them regularly. I also play the piano for our meetings. When I am playing the piano, I am able to feel the Holy Ghost in a more poignant way. It gives me peace and perspective. Someday I will learn the organ like my 98 year old grandma! As a physical therapist aid, I love meeting the patients. I see the good in them, pray for them, and come to love them. I admire their undying perseverance and faith through their difficulties, even though progress is slow or unapparent. Their examples inspire me. I am a defender of the family. I am a defender of God. I know the truth and will keep striving to live it.
