Hi I'm Rees

Grew up in Seattle, Washington. Worked as a Civil Engineer for 39 years. Retired in 2009. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired Civil Engineer. Studied at BYU and Northwestern University. My wife and I have 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They are my main hobby, but I also enjoy fly fishing and traveling with my wife. We served a mission for our Church in 2012-2013 in France; we worked with young people and enjoyed it very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of our Church all my life. My parents are second generation descendants of Mormon pioneers who came from Denmark, Norway and England in the 1800's and migrated to Utah on foot or by wagons pulled by oxen. I learned a lot from their dedication and faithfulness to what they believed to be true regarding our relationship to God and the role of Jesus Christ in our lives. It has meant a great deal to me to understand that Joseph Smith restored Christ's Church to the Earth, and that he did not merely reform existing organizations. Living the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has allowed me to overcome difficulties, enjoy the surprises and little treasures of life, and move forward with hope.

How I live my faith

I look at my faith as a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week endeavor. It is not just a Sunday activity. Our Church is great because it allows everyone a chance to work and put our faith into action. I have had assignments that allowed me to work with young people. I have also enjoyed the home teaching program that asks us to be especially caring in regard to four or five families in our congregation.
