Hi I'm Nathaniel Wheelwright

After being raised in Christ's Church I have chosen to serve my Lord Jesus Christ through a two year mission in Northern Alberta.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in southeastern Idaho of about 10,000, and I was surrounded by other kids that shared my religious beliefs. My parents taught me and all of my siblings (which I am the fifth of seven) that by living the Gospel and keeping all of Gods commandments we would find joy. I grew up with a love of physical activity. As a kid I was always more than happy to play any game that involved me running around, and I loved the game of baseball. As I grew older I joined the cross country and track teams of my middle school and high school. After High School I continued to work at a small town grocery store and played a lot of disc golf. I was involved in Boy Scouts of America were I received my Eagle Scout award. I was also part of Cedar Badge National Youth Leadership Training, were I volunteered to serve on the staff for 4 years in different positions. In the short time that I have lived on the earth I have learned the value of hard work, and to push and endure to the end of everything I do despite the struggles. These skills are now helping me in helping others come unto Christ through the restored Gospel a I have left my home to serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a missionary in the Canada Edmonton Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and always considered myself a Mormon. I have my own struggles and I have my doubts but I continue being a Mormon and strive to be a Latter Day Saint because I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true. I have realized at the times I was doing well in keeping all of Gods commandments I have been happier compared to the times I haven't. I have learned through study and prayer that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and within in it is the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In consequence I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God called of him to do a marvelous work and wonder. And within the church resides God's Priesthood authority, the authority from God to act in His name as directed by Him. And it is through this authority that the ordinances of salvation such as Baptism can be performed. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of this Church for it is His. And that Christ and his Gospel were given to me from my Heavenly Father. Who I know loves me, knows me, and desires for me to receive eternal life. And it is all possible because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, foreordained to be my savior and redeemer. The Messiah who has been prophesied of by all the holy prophets from Adam down to the current prophet Thomas S. Monson. He is the author of the Plan of Salvation, which is a perfect plan. He is the source of my faith and hope, which inspires me to endure to the end.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a missionary for the Church. It is a commandment from God that all worthy and able young men of the church serve a mission and thus I have been highly encouraged to go and have always wanted to do so. Before I left for my mission I went to church every Sunday and participated in the many different programs the church offers for its youth. Through the example of my parents, siblings, leaders, and friends, I have developed a habit of daily scripture study and prayer. Throughout high school I realized the spiritual strength it gave me. It was during high school that I learned that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet called of God. I have always striven to stay true to the standards and Commandments a loving Father in Heaven has given me. I have made a lot of mistakes but I continually try to improve as I rely on the infinite atonement of Jesus Christ. Now as a missionary my faith is my life. I get to teach and invite everyone to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel. My love for the scriptures have grown incredibly as I have learned and applied their teachings, and my love for the Savior has grown even more. As I have read about his life and teaching and learned about his character, I have learned that he loves me. And it is being filled with this love that has inspired me to be better and treat everyone the way that Christ would. I am in no way perfect and far from it, but I continually try to improve.
