Hi I'm Kylie

I grew up in Texas. I am serving a mission in Teresina, Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in Texas in a small family. I am the youngest, having only one older sister. I play the flute, enjoy dancing, reading, baking, and exploring the world around me. I will be serving a mission in Teresina, Brazil, and when I get back I plan on going to college to major in zoology. With a degree in zoology I want to work in wildlife rehabilitation and help with the rescue and release of wild animals. I hope to be able to make a difference in this world, even if it is a small one.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the church brings me joy. I have studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to know that it is true. By living the teaching of the Book of Mormon and church leaders, I find happiness and peace that I cannot find anywhere else. I know without a doubt in my mind that this church is true. I know through the teaching of this church that I am a daughter of God and he is always there for me. Through personal experiences, I know God answers prayers. I know he loves each and everyone of us and wants all of us to return to him. I know that God has given us the atonement so we can be forgiven of our sins and live with him again. The guilt and sorrow we feel when we have made mistakes can be taken away from us and replaced with joy when we repent because of the atonement. Christ knows exactly what we are going through and understands our struggles. If we turn to him we can be comforted and receive guidance. Without this church I wouldn't be the person I am today. I have made mistakes and drifted from the church, but I found my way back with a stronger testimony that this church is true and is the only way to find true happiness.

How I live my faith

At church, I currently teach the 7 and 8 year-olds. I love the children in my class. Even though I am the one teaching the lesson, they constantly are teaching me things. In a month I will be leaving to serve a mission in Teresina, Brazil. I am thrilled to get the opportunity to serve and look forward to the chance to serve, teach, and learn from the people in Brazil.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Kylie
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is when Christ suffered and atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and died on the cross for us. Jesus had to sacrifice his life so that we can overcome physical death and spiritual death (separation from God and his influences). Through the atonement we can be forgiven of our sins, and we can return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
