Hi I'm Jami

I’m a Texan. I’m a friend. I’m a mother. I’m a wife. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

Originally I am from East Texas. I moved to Idaho for a few years and have most recently moved to Washington. Yes, farther and farther from home. I have a degree in Exercise Physiology and love to learn about the body and nutrition. I am a mother and the wife of a grad-student. I love to be outdoors. I love cookies. I love having friends and being a friend. I love to serve others because it gives me a chance to forget myself and help out someone in need.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church and I never doubted that it was the true church. Questioned it, yes. I was raised in the “bible belt” and was often challenged as to the truthfulness of my religion. I was often asked questions I didn’t know answers to, so I searched for them and prayed about them. Although I knew the truth through the witness of the Holy Ghost, I could never seem to convey it to other people. I was shy and lacked confidence, being so very out-numbered by those around me. When I was 21 I served a mission in California where I was able to teach others about the LDS church and watch their lives change as they began living true principles and enjoying the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. I loved serving others, especially because I was able to forget about my own problems and just focus on helping them. It was during these 18 months of service that my testimony became solid enough to say that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church with the same doctrine and authority that Christ established when he was on earth. As I live according to the commandments of God I am blessed. One of my favorite blessings is a feeling of peace and happiness. True joy comes from righteous living. This I know is true from my experiences.

How I live my faith

I strive each day to read my scriptures and pray. I attend church each week and I do my best to magnify the calling (or role) I am asked to participate in. I know God's commandments are not restrictions, but rather they are guidelines that will help keep me happy, healthy, and safe. This is why I obey God's laws and statutes. Each day I hope to be a good example to others around me so that they might see my light and happiness and wonder where it comes from; I can then respond to them that it is the light of Christ and it comes from being His disciple.
