Hi I'm Lizzy Griffin

I am studying geology at Utah State University. I am the wife of the most wonderful man. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love rocks. I'm a rock hound and I'm obsessed with learning about geologic processes. So, naturally, I am working towards getting a Bachelor's right now in geology. I love the color green, nature, backpacking and rock climbing. I also love reading, singing, and writing. I have a major obsession with musicals, and I particularly love Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Rent. I am married and love my husband with all my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a sinner. The gospel of Jesus Christ has saved my life. I was addicted to pornography for five years of my life, and because of Christ and His Atonement, I am saved. Not only am I saved, but I am happy. I could never have been happy in my sins. I am a Mormon because I believe in forever families. The temple has allowed me to be sealed for time and all eternity to my husband. There will never be any "'Til death do you part" for us. He and I will be together forever, and my hope and knowledge of that is centered on my Mormon faith. I am a Mormon because I long for truth, and a fullness of truth is found in this restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Truth is in the Book of Mormon. Truth comes from personal modern revelation. Truth comes from a loving prophet who receives modern revelation from God. The search for truth and learning is an eternal principle that is taught in this faith.

How I live my faith

I think it's important to study the word of God and to pray to Him every day. I also believe that worship on Sunday is vital to keeping a close relationship with God, so I attend three hours worth of church meetings on the Sabbath to study more about Jesus Christ, our Savior, and try to become more like Him. At these church meetings, my husband and I serve by running the resources library, making sure that all the volunteer teachers of the week have all the resources that they need to teach about Christ. I love that I've been called to serve in this capacity because it gives me a chance to meet those people who live in my area and serve them. These are the ways that I live my faith.

What is the Relief Society?

Lizzy Griffin
The Relief Society is a warm big hug of immediate friends. Just last week, a girl in my ward Relief Society who I barely know, brought me a basket full of apple cider, cough drops, airborne, gloves, a water bottle, tissues and more, simply because she heard I was sick and wanted to help me out. And today, I remembered that, and made bread for a few women I've met and wanted to share my love with. It's an organization that's meant to provide relief for women in a time when the world is hard on us. So much of society forces women to see themselves as objects, needful of every beauty product available simply to appear more desirable. The Relief Society sees a woman's true beauty and provides her love, warmth, friendship and comfort in an increasingly cold, advertisement-filled world. Show more Show less
