Hi I'm Jessica Rachel

I'm from Mexico. I'm a big sister. I love science and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I immigrated to the U.S. when I was two, my mother didn't speak English so I didn't learn the language quickly. My first years at school were tough, especially reading. So I decided that I was going to be the best reader in the class. Since then my reading level has always been high and I enjoy school a lot. I'm also a performer. I have been singing and performing since I was 11 years old. I was always a shy kid, but when I got on the stage I could really shine. During high school I had a lot of success in the DECA and FBLA programs. I got a scholarship from the Academy of Finance. I'm also a big sister. I have three younger siblings who drive me crazy. But being their big sister is probably one of the best things that ever happened to me. I'm close with all of them, and I learn so much from them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But I continue to be a member because I have received confirmation that this is the TRUE church from my Heavenly Father. I had an amazing experience when I was 17 at a youth camp where the leaders were reading a scene from the Book of Mormon in which a group of people were in darkness for three days until Jesus Christ came to visit them. We were in the woods in the late evening when a white car came from out of the darkness and an actor representing Jesus Christ came out dressed in white and began hugging the leaders than all the youth, all one by one without a sound. As he approached me I had a defining moment that changed the course of my life. I made a choice. In my head I had two options on how to react to everything going on around me in that moment. I could shrug this experience off or I could ask myself a very important question, "What if?" What He really was here. And that's what I did. The actor hugged me and I didn't want to let go. I heard him crying, for me and I sobbed just like everyone there. No matter what I go through, I can never deny the feelings and thought that came to my heart and mind. God lives. And Jesus Christ knows me and wept for me.

How I live my faith

I taught the Gospel Doctrines class in my ward. This class is for new members who have less than a year of membership. I loved my students although they are all older than me they care for me and listen to me, knowing that what I teach is true. Right now, I am serving a mission and I love it!
