Hi I'm Krissbeth

I live in California. I have been called to serve a mission in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Psychology major with an emphasis on Special Education but I have decided to take a break from school to serve the Lord and complete a full-time mission. I was born in Guatemala but have lived in the United States most of my life with my 5 siblings and my parents. I enjoy film-making and submitted my first short film to the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. When I return from my mission, I would love to continue studying and graduate to eventually open my own school focused on working with children with learning disabilities.

Why I am a Mormon

Coming from a family with two parents who served a mission, my life as a young girl was always steered into the direction of being a member of the LDS Church. It was expected of me to become like my parents but I knew that I needed to gain that testimony by myself. As I have grown older and have tried to gain my own testimony and base my beliefs on my own experiences, I have no regrets about being baptized into the church and have come to find more and more reasons to why this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I have seen the blessings that I have received by striving to live the gospel and I constantly experience that sense of happiness that I get by choosing the right. Coming from a family of 6 kids was not always easy as it has come to many expenses and it was not always easy to plan family trips. However, as my family has focused on striving to live a life centered in God, we have received many blessings and have been able to overcome any obstacle as a family with the help of our Heavenly Father. I know that our Savior lives and I know that we have a Heavenly Father because I have felt his presence in my life in my times of need. I have witnessed miracles within my family that could never be explained with science or any man-made concept. I know that we have a purpose or else there would be no need for our existence. I know that we once lived with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ before and that we can live with them again if we try to live a righteous life. I know that The Book of Mormon is true and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and proof that our Heavenly Father will never leave us without his guidance. I am Mormon because I know that God loves me and I would not feel happy or be able to overcome temptations and obstacles if I did not live the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing the gospel with others without shame. Growing up, my siblings and I were always the only or one of the few in our school that were active members of the LDS Church. While it made me the strange classmate at times, choosing to stand tall, to be a example, and to share the gospel with as many people that I could helped others see me as who I really was and not as just the strange Mormon girl. As I demonstrate a sense joy in choosing the right and standing as a witness of God without shame, I know that I will be able to invite others to come unto Christ as well. I have also come to live my faith by volunteering and working with children in Daycare, elementary schools and special education programs. Our Savior gave a clear example of the worth that children hold and it has been commanded by our Heavenly Father to come to be as children in order to enter his kingdom. As I work with kids of ages, races, and talents and have come to love them, I too have learned more from the innocence and simplicity that they hold. Learning a new word or being able to feed themselves brings so much joy into their lives. What starts as a small fight over a toy ends in a matter of minutes as two children come to quickly forget about their feud and start playing together without any hatred amongst each other. While my main goal has been to help children in their development, I have also come to learn a lot from them and have discovered a lot more about the key to living a happy life centered in God.
