Hi I'm JoLyn Allred Farrer

I'm a barber/stylist, an organizer/decorator, a swimmer & beach lover, a shopper, a walker, a wife, a grandma and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm retired and a mother of 3 adopted children, and grandmother to 7 awesome grandchildren and one amazing granddaughter in law. I find great joy in spending time outdoors. Some of my favorite activities include hiking in Zion's National Park and Snow Canyon in Southern Utah with my husband and grandchildren, time in Oceanside California with extended family, trips to Disneyland, and touring LDS Church Historical sites. I relieve stress through organizing, decorating, and shopping with a purpose! My sisters are my rock, and I live for our special sister trips where we share laughs, tears, testimonies, sunshine, shopping, good food, and lots of chocolate. My husband is my guiding star and my best friend. We enjoy working side by side on home projects and in our yard and garden. Since retirement, we have found enjoyment while traveling many miles, visiting children and grandchildren, caring for our parents, and serving friends. We love our daily walk and talks and have fun working out together in the mornings. Serving as ordinance workers in the Columbia River temple was a dream come true for both of us. We are excited to be serving as companions in the Australia Adelaide Mission, along with my sister and brother in law.

Why I am a Mormon

I have the blessing of being born into a strong family with a great Mormon heritage. I have studied their lives through their histories and journals. I have visited family history and church history sites, and have felt their presence near me many times. I have read and studied for myself the Book of Mormon and other scriptures. I have prayed to know of their truthfulness. Having received an answer and felt my Savior's love and direction in my life, I know without a doubt that these teachings are true. I am happiest when I live the teachings of the gospel. I want to share what I know with others because of the positive difference the gospel has made in my life. I am comforted knowing we have a living prophet that guides us today. I know Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the Earth. I have felt the Lord's hand in the details of my life. I find strength and peace in going to the temple. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve as a missionary and help in hastening the Lord's work.

How I live my faith

I have served in leadership positions over the young women ages 12-18, as well as the women of our church in our area and community. While serving with the young women, I helped promote a goal setting program to help them reach their full potential in 8 different areas of their lives, including faith, knowledge and virtue. I was able to see the positive difference this made in the lives of numerous young women. While serving with the women in our church I was blessed to help women of all ages enjoy each stage of life, and learn appropriate skills to fulfill their divine role as women. Together we learned homemaking skills, how to further our education, and how to support and love each other through trials and accomplishments. Because of the association with these great women, I enjoy many lasting friendships with women of all ages and backgrounds. I've had many opportunities to serve my community, including organizing emergency preparedness workshops, helping with landscape and beautification projects, serving on the local junior miss program committee, organizing and coaching swim team. Over the years I have opened my home to several young people who have struggled with addiction. Christ taught that when you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are only in the service of your God. Through the experiences I have had in my own life, I can testify that you truly come to love those you serve. It has been my privilege to be the Lord's servant in these small ways.
