Hi I'm Shaye

I am from Idaho. I am a music composer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate. I will be going on a mission soon. I have plans on attending college afterward. I am going to major in music composition. I have been composing music since I was 11, but even before that I was always making up little songs or playing simple tunes on whatever instrument I could get my hands on. I want to write film scores for movie producers. Already, I have composed two soundtracks for two separate documentaries. Music is the top of my hobbies. However, I like many other things. When I have time to spare, I enjoy reading fictional books that take my mind to realms and lands filled with stories of heroes and villains. I also enjoy 18th century based novels such as Pride and Prejudice. Outside of my home, I love mountain biking, swimming, camping, boating, and anything else of the like. I am the oldest of five kids, with four younger sisters. Being the oldest comes with its challenges, as well as its perks. However, I find that cons outweigh the pros in my opinion. I still love it, though. My younger sisters are wonderful and I love them dearly.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all of my life. but I wasn't truly converted until I was given some pretty hard trials in my life. I came to really rely on prayer and it's power in my life. I felt my Heavenly Father's love for me and knew and my Savior, Jesus Christ was with me and understood me. I knew that I wasn't going through these trials by myself. That's when I fully came to love the church. It's not for perfect members that don't have temptations and trials. It's for people that do struggle with all kinds of different things, but know that their Heavenly Father loves them and has prepared a plan for them to become like Him and return to live with him. Though my Savior Jesus Christ, I know that living with my family and my Father in Heaven is possible. I know that I can become like Him, if I live worthily every day. And that is why I continue to follow Him and His church. I want nothing more than to return to live with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Even though I should be in the young single adult ward, I chose to stay in my parents (home) ward where I got the best calling ever. I am a primary teacher. I have a class of ten cute girls that are 7-8 years old. Some are baptized and some are not. Our lessons are very different every week. Sometimes the girls are more willing to pay attention and other weeks it is hard to focus on the lesson. It has taught me a lot though. I have learned how to be patient and how to teach using simple statements of truth. They can't handle long lessons so I have to keep things very short and concise. My favorite lesson, so far is one that was a mistake really. I prepared a lesson and found out a substitute had accidentally already given that lesson. I asked the kids what they wanted to talk about that Sunday and they said "miracles". In this world most people don't believe in the term. They don't understand it or see it in their lives. And yet, as we went around the room and shared miracles that had taken place in our lives I was astounded! Here were 7, 8 year old kids telling intricate stories of miracles as large as a family member being saved in a car accident, to praying to find a lost toy. A miracle is a miracle. I think the kids teach me more than I teach them. It truly is a fun part about going to church.
