Hi I'm adrienne

family, temples, outdoors, gardens, libraries, whole foods, working hard, and loving much: these are a few of my favorite things!

About Me

I'm the second of 10 children, and in answer to the "you must be either mormon or catholic?" question we got wherever we would go together, "we are mormon:)" I served a mission for my Savior in the Dominican Republic where those amazing people stole my heart. I crave learning and how it expands and opens my heart. Libraries are my candy store and I have earned a bachelor's and master's degree in Human Development. I married my best friend and the man who takes care of my heart, in the San Diego temple. We have five children who all consume my heart. And my greatest desire is to give my heart and all that I am to serve my Father by following my Savior and doing all my Father wants of me.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in this faith, it is not for the culture or habit that I remain. I am a question asker and deep thinker. Life has thrown me a few curve balls and it is in these exquisite experiences when my heart aches with pain, lonliness, loss, and fear, that I have always chosen to turn to my Savior and experience His Atonement so that through Him, I really can change for the better to be stronger and more loving and more peaceful. Not because of being convinced by people, or pressured socially, do I remain. I've talked often with my Father throughout my life through prayer to really feel and know truth from Him. He has let me know and feel in such a personal and real way, through the Holy Ghost which settles on me with a peacefulness and power not of man, that this is His Son's Church and He does have a Plan for all of the people who have ever lived on this earth to return to Him because He is our Father and we are His children and He loves us and wants us to come Home to Him. It is in Christ's church that I get to receive all the ordinances I need to be able to be with Them forever. These are special and sacred experiences that are warm and peaceful and illuminating. I love my family and want to be with all of them more than just until we die and so I am grateful to have learned that through Christ we can be together forever, even after this life! I love that this is real and actually possible. It's pretty beautiful how He has set us up for success by giving us scriptures, living prophets that tell us what Christ wants us to do to be happy and safe in this crazy wonderful world, and prayer to be in touch with Him, our Father, personally! And all this through our Savior and because of Him! It's super beautiful and mind blowing how awesome, and simple it is. So, why am I a mormon? The full extent of all we need to be peaceful and actually live happy now and together forever is found in this, Christ's church, and so, I can not nor will not be anything else.

How I live my faith

My parents, especially my mom, raised us to see the perspective that life is eternal and so I have had much peace in my life, even with hard things, because this is the perspective from which I view life, and therefore see hard things as chances to strengthen my faith in Christ. I live my faith by trying to follow Christ's example of loving others. He turned outward in thinking of others in all situations and I try to do as He did, fail, try again, fail, and keep trying. My husband is super busy being the leader (the designation is "bishop") of our congregation and also having quite a demanding job. So, I try to live my faith, in my relationship with him, by putting his needs before mine. Again, I try, fail, try, fail, and keep trying:) I get to visit with women of our congregation each month as we get together to support each other in our struggles with our families, and share ideas on how we can better follow Christ and share His love. Our children are involved in sports in our community and I especially enjoy how much what I treasure in my love for Heavenly Father and His Son is shared with the other moms not of our faith. Mostly I try to always have His spirit to be with me by keeping the commandments and asking in prayer for His guidance so that I can live each day doing the good He wants done.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

adrienne
Heavenly Father loves all of His children who have and will ever live on this earth. He gave us the choice to come to earth to see if we would choose to obey His commandments so that we could return to Him after this life. He knew we would make mistakes, sin, and not be worthy to come back. Because He loves us all so much, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly accomplished the Atonement and Resurrection. I don't perfectly understand every facet of what He did, but I do know that because He suffered for all our sins and all our sorrows and rose again on the third day, He somehow met the requirements necessary to satisfy God's justice so that mercy could then be extended to us, if we choose to repent, and that his rising from the grave somehow conquered death. It is by His grace that we are forgiven. His grace also extends to us the help we need to be better and stronger than we can be on our own. The Atonement essentially, is His gospel, He came to do His Father's will and He did it! All the truths that I have learned relate to and extend from His Atonement. Show more Show less
