Hi I'm Lindsey Bates

My home is Tigard, Oregon. Member all my life. I'm serving in Madrid, Spain. I go to BYU-I and I love the Lord. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am grown up in the church all my life and it is the greatest part of my life. My friends and family are so very important to me but Christ comes first for me. My testimony was a long and slow process but it is real and ever-growing. I love to sing and to dance, even though I get really nervous, I really like to perform and share my talents with others. Music has always had a special place in my heart and I have an addiction to movies. I am the youngest of 4 girls in my family, with a loving mother and father who were married in the temple. I am a junior at Brigham Young University - Idaho and my major is special education. But currently, I am serving in the Spain Madrid mission and I'm a very happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be. I have this desire to follow Christ I feast upon His words. I want to enter into His kingdom knowing I have done all that I could to become a disciple of Christ. I know that I am a Child of God and I know that He wants me to be here on this Earth right now. He loves me so much and needs to be worthy and a missionary so that I can help others come unto Christ as well. There is something so very special about the gospel and the people in the church. They are all such tender and sweet souls that are willing to serve each other in order for us all feel loved and endure to the end so that we can make it home to our loving and eternal Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I like to share the gospel through singing, I substitute in the primary with the young children a lot whenever I am in my home ward. I have served in a few meaningful callings that have really provided me with a greater desire to serve the Lord. Since I am a special education major in college, being around so many primary children has made my heart tender to innocent souls that in the learning process. We are all learning and teaching others the life of Christ is so beneficial to me because I can see the joy in their eyes and I can feel it in my heart. Doing these things continues to testify to me the power and love of Jesus Christ and His Father.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Lindsey Bates
Anyone can walk around the temple and appreciate its beauty. You can even walk through before it is dedicated to look inside and see what is there, but once it is dedicated, it is for members only. The ordinances performed and covenants made inside in the temple are sacred. This is the key factor as to why we do not speak about what goes on inside the temple outside of the temple. These things are for members only, but please keep in mind that all of these things are not saying "no" to you. ANYONE can enter into the temple, ANYONE can participate in the ordinances and practices if they come unto Christ, be baptized, and become worthy to enter the temple. It is not secret... it is sacred. The temple is important to build families and draw even closer to Christ and do work for those who cannot enter into the temple themselves because of death. I have been a member all my life and recently became endowed in the temple, but even now, having gone through the temple a few times, I still do not fully understand what goes on in the temple. I am constantly learning. The temple helps seal my family and other families together forever and that is the greatest blessing of all. I love the temple and I pray that anyone who seeks to understand the temple, will learn the gospel, pray the Book of Mormon is true, be baptized, live worthily to enter the House of the Lord. Fulfill the necessary requirements and you will know and understand. Show more Show less
