Hi I'm Courtney

I grew up overseas, love nature, birding, running, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am single and in my twenties, although I get told by almost everyone I look like a teenager. I have gotten my bachelor's degree in Biology at BYU. I am planning to obtain a master's some time in the future in some kind of research, perhaps in Evolution or Ornithology. I love nature and am especially fond of birds. My favorite hobby would be going hiking or on a car trip with a pair of binoculars and spotting every species of bird. I love movies and can quote a good number of them, and can always settle down with a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because I have had answers given to me through prayer. During an extremely hard time in my life, I felt alone and lost. I decided to pray one day, and after my prayer, I turned to the Book of Mormon and read about Nephi. While reading, I felt so emotional, and comforted. I felt like my dark bedroom was lit up with light, and an answer to my problems came to my mind. I felt my Savior's love and compassion, and I know that through the Spirit, He directed me when I was at a loss of where to go. I know that it is the true Church on the earth, the same church that Christ, my creator and redeemer, organized while He was on the earth two thousand years ago. As I have studied the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, I have felt a burning feeling of peace and truth about it all. I have felt Christ's love in my life and he comforts and strengthens me through prayer during harsh trials in my life. I honor Joseph Smith and everything he did to restore the true Church, and know without a doubt that he saw Christ and the Father appear to him. I know that I am a daughter of my Father in Heaven and that I am on the right path to become more like Him.

How I live my faith

I attend Church every Sunday and feel refreshed every time I go. One of my favorite responsibilities I have had in the past at Church was teaching the youth. I taught a class of rambunctious 12-year-olds for a summer and learned to have so much fun with them, caring about their struggles, teaching them the precious teachings of Jesus Christ, and loving them. I have visited women my age while attending college, taking care of their needs. I have also been in charge of organizing fun activities every week for student church members while at college to promote a "family"-like atmosphere amongst friends. I love studying the scriptures, gaining truth from them as I ponder my life and what I am doing to be a good person and gaining direction.
