Hi I'm Pamela

Mormon Mom of 1, Wife of a Swede, Traveler to Chile, Africa, Sweden, Canada, US & Puerto Rico. Love Family History, PCs, Education

About Me

I served a mission in Chile and also served a year with Peace Corps in Togo West Africa. I Love SciFi, Mystery and Adventure when reading or viewing media. Big Fan of Doctor Who, Sherlock, Star Wars, Star Trek, Anything Marvel, J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. I Enjoy Family History and was a Technical Trainer for a Funeral Home and Cemetery Company and ESL Paraprofessional for an Elementary School. I enjoy Homeschooling even when it is a challenge. Family/Friends have always meant a lot to me. “The family is the cornerstone of civilization and no nation will rise above the caliber of its homes.” Ezra Taft Benson “Love is like the Polar Star. In a changing world, it is a constant. It is of the very essence of the gospel. It is the security of the home. It is the safeguard of community life. It is the beacon of hope in a world of distress.” Gordon B. Hinckley

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS Home. Baptized at 12 (not attending when I was 8). The Gospel was always in the home and core belief in growing up. In high school I read the Book of Mormon. I wanted to read it for myself and as the scripture says Moroni 10: 3-5 "3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I was Read, Searched, Pondered, and Prayed to know if it was true. Every night I waited for my answer until I got to Helaman 5:!2 "12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." I knew, I felt the Spirit tell me "This is why. This is Important in your life. This is a True Testimony, Record of Jesus Christ." I know Heavenly Father answered my prayers. He answers all who ask and seek Him. It may not come at the beginning of the search or with angles singing, but He will answer you.

How I live my faith

I have been active and inactive in the church through out my life. One thing has never changed, I know that Heavenly Father Lives and Loves me. I know His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ died for me and that He Lives. I am so thankful for His Atonement and Resurrection. All I have, comes from Their Love and Sacrifice for me(Us). They have given me the free will to seek them out and to even accept any and all blessing they are ever willing to give to me. They have always been with me through trials in life and if I listen to the Holy Spirit I am always guided and thankful. I know that there are Prophets alive today to help in guiding and preparing us in these days. Their testimony and faith has helped me through trials and even strengthened my faith when their counsel was heeded or studied. I am so thankful for the scriptures and wisdom they have added to my testimony. I feel I have been blessed to have wonderful family and friends placed in my life to encourage me and strengthen me as well. Some who are LDS and Some who are not and I love each of them equally. For it is our common respect, love and friendship that I strive to share with all I meet in this life. For we each can bring light and strengthen in faith, when we do.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Pamela
It is impossible to put into words the full meaning of the Atonement, which is the most important and most transcendent event in the history of the world. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, the Savior atoned for our sins. "Life’s disappointments often represent the debris of our failed, proximate hopes. Instead, however, I speak of the crucial need for ultimate hope... It is tied to Jesus and the blessings of the great Atonement, blessings resulting in the universal Resurrection and the precious opportunity provided thereby for us to practice emancipating repentance, making possible what the scriptures call “a perfect brightness of hope” (2 Ne. 31:20)." Neal A. Maxwell When I was young I went through a trial and during which I thought Heavenly Father Why? Do You Know Me? Care? Why the pain and hurt, this trial needed? More I thought on the trial and questions I felt loss and hurt, sad and angry. Yet the spirit whispered for me to pray and I did? I cried and asked those questions and after a bit I stopped mid prayer and just listened, and as if a picture in my mind I saw Christ and his Atonement. His Sacrifice. I cried even more for I knew He knew me, my individual needs and He love me, all was not loss, forsaken. Hope was ever Present.I am never alone in my weaknesses/sin. Never alone during trials and even during sickness. My Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are always there. I am ever eternally grateful for Atonement. Show more Show less
