Hi I'm Cristy

I didn't find God, God found me. I now have a family of my own and am going to school to become a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the church back when I was 18 years old and now I have a family of my own. I am currently going to college and in my free time I love to read, bake, go fishing or do anything that involves being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I originally joined because every time I met with the missionaries I felt a sweet peace and overwhelming sense of hope. It was as if my whole body was filled with light instead of darkness and for the first time I began to see life clearly. The missionaries told me if I got baptized I could have this feeling to keep and explained to me that it is called the Holy Ghost. After I was baptized I came out of the waters a different person. It was as if the shackles of the old me were left behind in the water that day. I continue to live it because I have never found more love and peace than what I have found by living these teachings, Heavenly Father's and Jesus Christ's teachings. The key to true and lasting happiness is found here.

How I live my faith

I love participating in visiting teaching which is where you are assigned a companion and have a list of a few of the women in our ward that we go check up on and share a monthly spiritual message with. My favorite part about visiting teaching is the friendships that are built. I have met wonderful women that I might not have gotten to know more personally otherwise. We truly have become more like sisters that are always there for one another when either of us are in need as a result. I also have a calling in the ward as a ward missionary. We work with the missionaries and often get to participate in lessons with investigators and help with anything they may need. As I have heavily participated in this calling I have had many wonderful opportunities to bear my testimony in a variety of ways and to feel of the sweet love our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father have for every single one of us no matter where we are in life.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, offered everything He is in the Garden of Gethsemane where He bled from every pore as He carried the weight of the sins and pain of every single person. In that moment, he suffered for all the pain, anguish, despair and sin each and every one of us would ever know. He suffered so that when we felt overcome by addiction, pain and life that we would not endure it alone. Even if we felt like no one around us could ever understand what we were going through there would always be One who would, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of this, we will never be alone in our circumstances and in order to access this Atonement and the available love it begins with a prayer. Because of His sacrifice in the Garden of Gethsemane and final sacrifice on the cross, we can all be saved and feel of this available grace and love. We can all be forgiven. We can all be made whole again. I end with this quote from Elder Holland which I feel summarizes the result of Jesus Christ's sacrifice perfectly. "However late you think you are, however many chances you think you have missed, however many mistakes you feel you have made or talents you think you don’t have, or however far from home and family and God you feel you have traveled, I testify that you have not traveled beyond the reach of divine love. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ’s Atonement shines.” -Jeffrey R. Holland Show more Show less
