Hi I'm Jonathan

I grew up in the Idaho. I'm a pole vaulter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies include blacksmithing, archery, white water rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and video games. I did 4 years of track as a pole vaulter and hope to continue vaulting in college. I'm an upcoming college student but am taking a break from schooling to serve a 2 year mission. I'm one of five kids and love spending time with my siblings playing Frisbee and going camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church but have stayed in the church because of the feelings I receive when living the gospel. I've seen time and time again that how i do in school and sports and my overall happiness is directly related to how I'm doing spiritually. For example during my last year in high school I'd been in a rut and had stopped progressing in pole vault once again. Over the course of the next few days my scout group went out and did a big service project, i finished my scripture reading and started going to mission prep. At the end of the week I felt a lot better and on that spiritual high I broke my personal record and secured a spot in the state championship for myself. I know that I was only able to do this because of God's help and knowing my limitations I know I will continue to need his help for the rest of my life. And that's why I've stayed in the church, so I can know my Father in Heaven is there, that He loves me, and will always be there for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing service activities with our scout groups, teaching lessons to the younger kids, and by helping others in the area. One of my favorite things to do is interect with some of the elderly folk my family has befriended. We like to go over to their apartment building and share stories, treats and songs with them but mostly I just like to chat.
