Hi I'm Gary

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Work as a Civil Engineer. I am a Mormon baptised at age 8. I love the changing seasons.

About Me

I am married with six children and 15 grandchildren. I have a degree in civil engineering and my career included working on a coal fire power plant construction project, city engineer and public works director. Hikes I have gone on have include an old copper mine dig in the desert, crossing a back county air plane landing strip, petroglyghs of ancient indian rock art, also, camping in Goblin Valley State Park, fishing in Gilloti Pond and mountain biking on Lukes Run a single track trail. I like to snow ski and snow shoe when I can. I help my wife grow a vegetable garden. I like a clean polished car. I served in the army national guard as a medic. I recently built from scratch 8 wooden bird houses for my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, the oldest of eight kids. I was baptised, received the Holy Ghost and confirmed a member at age eight. I was baptised in the baptistry located on the ground floor of the Temple Square Tabernacle, south side. A few years ago when they remodeled the Tabernacle they eliminated the Font. I have a testimony of God the Father as I see his hand in everything about me, the stars, planets, sky, flowers, animals and cycle of the seasons. God's Son Jesus Christ created the earth, brought us the plan of salvation and the Atonement which is key to navigating our way through life such that we can measure up and be in good standing. It is a way of life and living for me. The covenants are commitments that give reason for us to see the worth in ourselves and others and what life has to offer.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week, served as a home teacher, bishop and sunday school teacher. We take part in cleaning the church building. I served a full time mission in southern Italy as a young man. While a varsity scout leader we took scouts white river water rafting on the Snake River, a 30 mile backpack trip across an area with three lakes over four days and built Estes model rockets. Participated in a 5K run sponsored by our Ward.We cleaned a ten foot fire break around the church property. I attended boy scout Wood Badge. Like a 'three legged stool' I feel that it is important to say my daily prayers, read the scriptures and attend chuch meetings regularly.
