Hi I'm James

I am from Alaska/Colorado. I am a basketball fanatic. I am a missionary in the New Mexico Farmington Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a basketball player all the way, there's really nothing else that I would rather do. I played throughout high school and plan on playing in college when I return from my mission. I have been serving in the New Mexico Farmington Mission, the greatest mission on earth, for the last year and a half. Even here, I still have my massive love for basketball, I play it whenever possible. I love hunting and spending time in the outdoors. If I wasn't found on the basketball court, I usually couldn't be found because I was out in the mountains enjoying the outdoors. Growing up in Alaska definitely helped with the growth of my love for all the wonderful things that our Father in Heaven has created for us.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been lucky enough to grow up in this church, but I didn't find myself too fond of anything that the church had to offer me. I grew up just doing the routine, doing what my parents wanted of me, but the time finally came for me to make my own decision. I wanted so much to go my own way (basketball, school, social life, basketball, etc.) and that's what I decided. But, I was blessed so immensely to have 2 wonderful parents, many extended family members, leaders, and friends who have helped me to realize what I needed to do. It wasn't truly what I wanted to do, but it's what I needed to do. There were many people who helped me in this whole decision, but the greatest help that I ever received was the help from my Father in Heaven. Through his spirit testifying to me what I needed to do, I decided to follow the counsel it gave me. I decided a mission over basketball, personal life, school, and many other things. There was a lot that I gave up for this, but there's so much more that I've gained from it. I would never go back and redo anything in that decision, it's by far the greatest decision I've ever made, to serve a mission, to live my life according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to strengthen my relationship with my family on earth and my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I know this is the true church, this gospel is the truth, and Jesus Christ is our Savior who suffered, died, and lived again. HE LIVES!!! I know this, I will never doubt it, I KNOW IT!!!!

How I live my faith

At home, I went home teaching with my Dad, I worked with the young men in my ward, and I tried to be a good example for others to see. Now, there is a lot more that I do. I read from the scriptures, the words that our Heavenly Father has given us, each day. I pray, talking to God whenever I can or need to. I still do my best to be an example, I know that I am very, very, very far from perfect, but I am trying to be more like the Savior in all I do. I am serving a 2 year mission for my Father in Heaven, my Savior, and myself.
