Hi I'm Landon Zea!

I'm a home-taught scholar, musician, gentleman, jack-of-all-trades, and hands-on battle historian. I love to live :D I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the second of six children, and the oldest brother; which pretty much automatically means I am a part-time jungle gym :D I am originally from Edmond Oklahoma (just North of Oklahoma City) but my family moved to Utah when I was about 15 so that we could live close to my mom's side of my family. My family and I don't always get along, but no family does, and that's totally fine because we are doing the best we can :) I love to learn and have fun. Those two are pretty much an obsession for me. I think almost anything and everything is absolutely fascinating, but some of my favorites are music, science, linguistics, reading, history, cultures, fantasy, and sports of any kind (but particularly combat sports like fencing, paintball, HEMA, Capture the flag, or Dagorhir) I was home-schooled growing up and continue to learn at home and abroad. Being home-schooled in Oklahoma was a great experience for me because many of the people in the Southern United States are Christian, and VERY good people, but did not accept my family as Christian because we were "Mormon". It was good to associate with other followers of Jesus Christ, and respect each other, even though our beliefs differed. It was also great to be an example, and many people who knew my family soon discovered that we WERE indeed Christian. For sure :D I am currently serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in The Everett Washington Area. And absolutely loving it :)

Why I am a Mormon

Here are a few reasons: - As you learn and live the things taught in the scriptures and come closer to God, you start to see blessings. God wants us to be happy, and we accept his blessings by following Him. I have experienced things that others might call normal, but I feel are from God - My family took the time to teach me what being a follower of Christ is really all about. There is no place where those things are more fully exemplified than in the group that Christ himself put together. That group has been brought back, with practically nothing being different. That group is now called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. - The entire Mormon religion can be upheld or undermined through two things: The Spirit of God and The Book of Mormon. If the Book of Mormon as a whole is from God, then that means Joseph Smith really was a prophet. It's crazy, I know, but God has always spoken to us through prophets - even after Christ was Crucified and Resurrected; through people like Peter and Paul. - I am willing to wait for answers. I have found things that test my faith plenty of times, but you don't jump out of an airplane just because you see the flight attendant falling asleep! As I move forward understanding that I am not going to know EVERYTHING while I am here on earth, things are made known to me one thing at a time. When a kid asks you how airplanes go up, and you know they aren't young enough to tell them "It's just magic" nor are they old enough for a (in their mind) lengthy discourse on physics, you give them something in the middle, or tell them to ask you again when they are a little older. - I have made a conscious decision to believe. If something happens tomorrow that somehow "proves" in the minds of many that God is not there, nor does he care, I will still believe. Like someone blind from birth chooses to believe that the sun really is there, I have made a choice to believe that the Son really is there. We must ALL walk by faith.

How I live my faith

Service! The Lord's will is to make the world a better place. I do what I can to serve others and brighten the world around me. There are too many people in this world who are struggling for life feeling like they don't have any support for me to just float along in my own little bubble of contentment. I also grow closer to God through daily prayer and scripture study. There is a quote by a 20th century Apostle of God (who has since passed away) that says "If we are to have faith like Enoch and Elijah [two powerful ancient prophets from the Holy Bible], we must believe what they believed, know what they knew, and live as they lived". Imagine what we could do if we knew exactly what God wanted us to do. We could work miracles! I try every day to build the kind of faith that can produce miracles. Because I don't know about you, but I think that stuff is pretty cool :) Faith in Jesus Christ is a lifestyle, not an event. It is something we are always striving to strengthen, not something that happened once to us years ago. One other way I love to live my faith is by inviting Jesus Christ into my everyday life through music! I love any music that I feel the Savior might appreciate, like orchestrated pieces (Try AudioMachine) or Songs that talk about God's love for us (Try Anthem Lights). I also love stories! (I am basically just a bigger version of a little kid, in case you couldn't tell yet. Well, only slightly bigger) Whether directly related to the scriptures or not, I absolutely love stories, because I feel like we can learn something from them. Even stuff like Marvel or Disney! If the Savior is the Hero of our story, what can we learn from the hero of a different story? They all do the same kinds of things, right? Dedication, Sacrifice, and fighting for truth to win! It's not so far-fetched as the devil would have you think :) Even Jesus taught through stories! And like I said, I'm currently serving a full-time (2 year, 24/7) mission, so I guess that counts too
